Motorist should slow down and get ready to stop at every zebra crossing (and not wait for PMD users to dismount instead).

    5. The driver of every vehicle approaching a pedestrian crossing must proceed only at such speed as will enable him to stop his vehicle BEFORE reaching the crossing.

For example, it would be very difficult for elderly cyclist, those with kids as pillion and loads to dismount and vehicle drivers would probably have to wait even longer if the cyclist/ PMD users dismount and push their PMD across the road. PMDs however, should also exercise safety first and be prepared to stop to avoid any collision. LTA should also install traffic cameras at zebra crossings where vehicles tend to approach at fast speed and summons drivers for speeding and where the pedestrian or PMD requests for footage of any vehicle failing to stop for them to cross, for the purpose of imposing minimum 6 demerit points , $360 fine or higher (dangerous driving) for drivers who fail to slow down and stop for foot/ shared path users crossing:

PMD max speed is 25kph. If any motorist is unsure if there is a PMD approaching (e.g. due to bushes, construction debris, rubbish, bright sunlight etc obstructing his view, then he should approach slowly and also stop before stop line to check clear of approaching PMD/ pedestrians before proceeding forwards. This is because as motorist, it is his duty to ensure that there are no PMD or pedestrians about to cross the zebra crossing before proceeding forwards. (If he is kind, he should also physically remove the garbage or tell LTA to trim the bushes obstructing his view).

Same as slip road joining main road at stop line, all motorist must stop without fail, check clear, then move forwards. Bicycle can travel at 50kph on main road and all slip road traffic must give way as well.

    E.g,:
Cars wanting to cross this Jx must all stop BEFORE stop line, check for on coming traffic and only proceed forward if the coast is clear.[IMG]

Same analogy applies at slip road as it does at zebra crossings, simply because there is a prominent stop line in both cases.
