I think the conversation between blacks and whites regarding race relations is VERY complex. The tension in southeast USA makes it a difficult topic to discuss how to change the dynamic. People tend to have reservations about being really honest, so we dance around the topic here. Living in metro Atlanta, I am very aware of black/white relations. I can only shsre my experience and observation as a 39 year old ehite woman in south netro Atlanta. I really am interested in ideas that might facilitate a better understanding between the two races. And while I strongly feel open dialogue, shared interests, common ground would be very beneficial, I cannot offer an idea that could move us in that direction.

 

We have had lots of good economies in the last 50 years. We have also seen the illegitimate birth rate in the black community triple. The drop-out rate double. We have spent $10T, as in "trillion", on the "War on Poverty" in those 50 years, on top of good economies. Not arguing that a good economy will not improve things, but it does not address what ails the black community. Been there, done that. Proven.

 

For 5 decades the left had tried to push minorities up the ladder of success in our society by giving them hand outs and using reverse discrimination to give them an unfair advantage and it has failed. no mater how much hand outs was given no how much unfair advantage they gave them it failed. they are no better off economically then they was 50 years ago
so now the left is trying a different approach instead continuing the failed attempt to push minorities up the ladder the are trying to drag whites down

Quotas? They still exist, but I've never heard of a company being required to hire no whites at all. While that does mean that a few white workers do not get hired I don't see the "whites need not apply" being true or relevant.

Of course blame for some peoples circumstance will vary from case to case.

 

Plenty have done it. Previous generations have nothing to do with YOU. People stuck in those conditions have only themselves to blame. I don't feel one bit guilty for being white. These poor kids have been psychologically abused by their schools. Their parents should sue for undue suffering and abuse. These kids have been raped of their culture and heritage which is something for them to be proud of, not disdain. It is the minorities who should feel uncomfortable and embarrassed for not being able to have a thriving country of their own. And these intruders do not have thriving countries because their countries are full of people just like them. Our country will look and be like theirs (narco-terrorist state like Mexico) before long because these people haven't changed anything but their environment. I'm not telling you to feel guilt for being white, I'm telling you that other people don't have it as easy as you do. What, you think that other people are to blame for daring to be born into poverty? Do you think that they should just conjure up opportunities out of nowhere? What the (*)(*)(*)(*) are you supposed to do in that situation? You think you have all of the answers just because you're well off and you've never experienced that misfortune? Do you seriously think that the proper answer is to cut off the only helping hand they get and let the ghettos completely collapse?

The world isn't the idealistic place you think it is where everyone gets back exactly the amount of effort they put in. Some people are born into bad situations, where there isn't opportunities. They die in those same situations, and nobody can even take blame for it. Sometimes, things are genuinely hopeless. You don't need to do anything wrong to get (*)(*)(*)(*)ed over. Just have the misfortune to exist in a community where no employer will pay you anything above minimum wage, where everything is run down, and where the only way to stay safe is to have an allied gang at your back.

That is what my parents did. My folks came from misery and misfortune and squaller. Hunger. 6 brothers and sisters and two shells a day hunger. They had nothing, other than drive to get away from the dirt. They educated themselves. They worked. They saved. They learned. When there was no work, they made work. My dad stutters. He has scars on his face where he was beaten with a two by four. He walks with a limp. When he retired he made mid six figures. When the economy collapsed, most of his retirement liquidity was tied up in real estate. He lost everything. He lost the 600 acre farm he bought to live and die with my mother on. They struggled. Nobody is looking to hire a CEO at his age... so he started a company. They are above water. He will work until he dies now, and he doesn't blame the world for his hardships... he perseveres. It's just kind of... what he does.

I was born into dirt. I watched them struggle. When I was about 11 or 12 is when we moved out of the ghetto. I went from bad DC area schools to private school. I, had privilege. I am not sure I appreciated it. My diction, my verbiage, my phraseology did not come from this privileged education, but from my self educated dirt farmer parents. I squandered more opportunities than most had. My parents, being my parents, let me fall on my face. I pissed and moaned about it. I cried about how unfair it was... and then a funny thing happened. I picked myself up. Starving but too proud to take handouts, I worked (*)(*)(*)(*) jobs while I taught myself the technologies of this new internet that was getting so popular. I put myself through school. I failed and got back up a few more times. I got myself stuck in a town without jobs, so I started a company. I ran it steadily into the ground. I learned from it. I started over. I did it better. I am closing on a new house this week. Let's hope the economy doesn't tank come October... but if it does... know what I will do? Yep.
