My opinion is that America is rather ''stupid'' when it comes to elections . Popularity should mean chit in reality , you should never allow actors , rich people etc , to run for president . People vote for these people thoughtlessly hoping and delusional in thinking that some way they will get a ''hand out'' . I suggest you change your system , only allow qualified people to run for president . The biggest job in America and you keep it giving to unqualified people ! That is not clever !
The problem is that qualified people won't run for president because of the process. We only get people who are willing to undergo the process in order to get political power. The most qualified people wouldn't even care about political power.
It is also funding issues ! You are correct , smart people don't care about political power because it is a vicious game and putting yourself in the line of fire . However , doesn't your congress have the final say ? Can't you devise a simple set of principles ? Maybe revise the state of independence ? 1) Celebrities cannot apply 2) Tycoons cannot apply You know something along those lines , that way you'll get the serious people who want to make a difference rather than ''statements'' like a big stupid wall , which will cause problems on a scientific level . You know also , since when did America become Berlin ? Even North Korea has gone super smart and changing , yet America is going backwards !
