https://newmatilda.com/2015/04/30/wa-government-deregisters-worlds-oldest-rock-art-collection-sacred-site It looks like the Supreme Court ruled against the definition change and in my opinion rightly so. The ongoing assault on indigenous Australian culture continues with destruction of continuity of history a key stepping stone in that journey. In my mind I imagine the dominator sitting in judgement over spiritual expression of another culture and I'm not sure what angers me more, the idea that it is a deliberate action in full knowledge of the consequences or whether so little regard is given to the Aboriginal culture that this could be done without malice.
At the end of the day Money is the god that is worshipped in the world the most. If the main adepts of this cult want to destroy any sacred place it will be destroyed for any good reason.
Nothing is sacred. In time, we'll stop caring about this site and the history it holds will be forgotten.
You missed "for me". Why not to hold what is sacred for anyone? Nazi destroyed other nations sacred places and they failed.
It also reads into the cultural destruction of a people and their history. Anti-socially conscious money making is a current globally destructive force.
And ironically that is one of the gifts the original owners of the land tried to share with the european settlers...that we are transient caretakers of this place for a short while...we should do better with it.
Exactly. What's worse is the value judgement that our interpretations of what is mystical constitutes the sacred whereas interpretations that we do not share, does not. At least pushing for a complete deregistering of all sacred sites would be consistent.
