For the sea buffs, history buffs and the curious, this video is great. I saw film of this on Amazon prime and found some on youtube as well. What is strange is this Sub sank off of Genoa Italy during WW2 and is standing at a 45 degree bow up in the ocean bottom at about 450 feet depth. In the Prime video film they took a German Submarine crewman to the wreck in a modern explorer submarine to see first hand the wreck. He had served on the Submarine earlier and released prior to the sinking of the ship. Apparently it hit a mine planted by the Germans which blew off the stern end.

Prime has it in English. But to see the submarine sticking up in the Mud, check the first video and check it out. This is not in English.

This next video does not show it on the bottom since at that time it was not found.

a branch of military service I'd never go into...U-Boat fatality rate 75%, absolutely terrifying way to die

Ken (last name not shown of course) was a classmate of mine in high school. Ken served this nation in submarines. He retired as a CA highway patrol Lt. He accepted the risks of both jobs.

I wanted subs but the term was four years so I went airborne for just three.

my bro-in-law Lt Commander on a destroyer during the height of the cold war when they were being shadowed by soviet subs estimated his survival time at about 15mins...that struck me as an exaggeration but he stood by it, he was an expert in weapons systems and anti submarine warfare...
