I assure you, it is not only all this filth that will get a rude awakening, but there shall be no hiding place for sex offenders, child molestors, and other such assorted vermin who are presently protected and fettered. All of our Gov's have let us down in all such matters, indeed they have child rapist enablers among them. The US can find it's own manifest destiny, but I assure you that inside ten, possibly five years, we are going to see a massive backlash, and from it will come sweeping social change.

Kiddie fiddlers and drug dealers should feel nervous when those changes come.

They will simply not be tolerated.

The reason Prohibition is failing is because it is repugnant to our Ninth and Tenth Amendments, not to mention Individual Liberty.

Our governments should be generating revenue from Commerce, well regulated among the several States.

So you'd think that law enforcement both state and Federal fail to enforce a law because They think it is unconstitutional
Or do you think some kid starts using drugs because the constitution says It's all right
    WOW

Actually prohibition is pretty close to total anarchy as it is, as prohibition is the complete absence of regulation in any form.

If you believe a course of action is the only way to go, then you do what you think is right regardless of whether other people agree with you or how lost the cause may be.
In this case however I would argue that blanket prohibition of all drugs not dispensed by tobacco, alcohol or pharmaceutical companies is one of the key elements contributing to the narco-terrorist attack on the soul of a nation.
So I agree with some of what you say and share some of your concerns but we see prohibition in very different lights.

Just out of interest Jack. Can you answer a hypothetical question for me?
Say I'm a bio-chemist with a home lab and I make myself some ecstasy which i then take and have a private rave in my basement. Assuming all other actions in my life are that of a normal good-ish citizen. In your opinion am I bad person and why?

No it wouldn't make you bad per se. It would make you a criminal. Indeed, I would imagine (at least here), that doing something like that would get you far more jail time than simple possession.

By your rationale of thinking it's the coca trees in south america financing the drug trade. which, short of nuking whole countries, is not feasible.

The state could capitalize on the drug trade if they decriminalize
plus they would take money off the gangs.

Drug use is a victimless crime.

    Keep telling yourself this.

    Doesn't make it true.

The most successful drug programs always seem to be centered around Drugs as a Health Concern, rather then a criminal one. In Portugal (which was brought up earlier in the thread) rather then going to jail, if arrested, you can choose to enter a rehab program.

Here in Canada, specifically Vancouvers Insight program, having ready access to clean facilities and needles, the disease numbers (AIDS/HIV on the forefront) and ODs have dropped like a stone and have done some amazing work with the community. It's so successful that when our PM Harper tried to defund it, a judge over ruled it, and took the extra step and actually told Harper to leave it alone and let it do its work.

The idea of personal choice in terms of drugs is tricky. Some people are capable of handling their drugs and still leading a productive life. Others aren't so much. Which means a 'one size fits all' approach won't work.

You have yet to explain how using drugs is not a victimless crime.

How is sitting at home doing drugs hurting anyone besides the user?

I was just wondering if you one of the 'all drugs are evil and all drug takers are evil' or not.
You're right though. I am not bad per se and I am a criminal...not convicted, but a criminal in the eyes of the law nonetheless.

Well if you set up a mini pharmacy creating MDMA, then I definitely think you would go to prison. The best way to not go to prison would be to not do such a thing. These rules and laws were all in place for reasons. It may indeed be that they are applied badly or whatever, but the essence of the law is sound.

I would certainly have no objections to greater exploration of MDMA for Parkinson's.

    The bottom line is this.

With smack addicts etc - it is a dirty lifestyle. All of it. I can spot the smack heads in my city a mile away. The females weigh about two stone and the men have one tooth.

You are buying drugs from drug dealers, aren't you? They will go on and buy more drugs which will be sold to other people. Some people will inevitably die because of overdose or whatever. And it might just be the money you handed to your drug dealer which condemned them to death. Basically, you are complicit in a crime by financing criminals.

All the more reason for the state to legalize, produce their own drugs, and also let private businesses make it.

What makes you think that the state or states are not already involved in the drug trade? Do you honestly think that if everyone knows, let say a local dealer in North/South Acton, the police does not know about him/her? Yet they continually sell their drugs undisturbed.

Last I checked this isn't the conspiracy forum.

also note the OP is about america. Nor are all police and governments the same.

I don't mean to sound patronising but you are obviously unaware of what is going on in the real world around you. This might bring it closer to home.

Dude that was 30 years ago, plus the government got caught.

Regardless that even more enforces my position that we should legalize use and produce our own drugs

Are you aware that some young US/UK soldiers still risk their lives in Afghanistan merely for protecting poppy fields?

I believe we should ditch the drug war since it is a cost center and merely regulate Commerce well, through that form of socialism, to manufacture a public sector means of production and revenue center that can defray the cost of government and lower our tax burden in a market friendly manner.

I guess the word finance has a different meaning to you
When I said finance I meant
    Supplies the money

    Trees cannot supply money
If you buy drugs from a drug dealer You're helping finance his operation
    Just like any other consumer

It depends on the law; we already know Prohibition has the Distinction in modern times, as having been repealed as a bad idea.

Why do you believe new forms of Prohibition are any better for the greater glory of our immortal souls?

Why does murder still exist, if it is illegal and may carry a death penalty?

The US government is the largest drug purchaser in the world. How many legal drugs are sold illegally, which may result in death?

Care to name those multinational companies targeting young people with their high THC product?

What nonsense, the enabling legislation controls the growers and distributors closely.
