Invitation to Balkan country bombed by Nato 17 years ago is likely to inflame tensions between Russia and the west.

Here we have a democratic Leader Milo Djukanovic who has been in office for 27 years :)
Started as a Communist, turned to Milosevic regime and became a nationalist, then a democrat and today a liberal EU fanatic. Would this have been a pro russian leader I can only think what the headlines would be :D

Well, if Albania is in NATO, so can be Montenegro. At least, one can go to Montenegro and feel very safe, which can not be said of Albania.

    Problem is not joining NATO.
Problem is doing it without a voting, not even in the Parliament. And add a 27 year long ruling to that checklist and one can figure out whats up with all this :)

    Democracy, I think not.
I wouldn't be surprised if Serbia joined also.
Either way they have somewhat more insurance for not having a breakaway Albanian part in their country. Great Albania covers a whole lot of Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro

I think this is not very important point for Russia, as the whole region for a long time is under NATO control.
But seems like NATO wants to expand simply because it wants, without any essential reason.

    Protests in Montenegro against NATO:

Yeah, Montenegro in NATO our out of NATO is no difference for Russia.
But it affects citizens of non NATO Countries like Serbia and Bosnia, one can see that citizens there feel like they will for some reason be outsiders if their neighbors are in NATO.

Me personally I would not join an organisation which bombed me, just saying.

NATO does not "Invite" nations to join. Nations ask to join and NATO eventually accepts or denies...usually after many years.

An invitation to join NATO is always beneficial.

I'm not sure I understand why Russia would be so vociferously opposed to a little-bitty pissant country like Montenegro joining NATO. Look at this country on a map and you'll probably yawn. Truthfully, the big Russian reaction over this is probably just a set-up for some kind of quid pro quo in the near future, where they demand some kind of concession from "the West" in return. I mean, come on -- Montenegro?! :roflol: Link: https://www.google.com/maps/place/M...2!3m1!1s0x134c3217242c1fcb:0x384c9d866effd346

Of course I've heard of Ukraine, but NATO has not said NO to Ukraine, as far as I remember it has intensified the "talks"

It's quite obvious that NATO is not a defensive force, rather a force against Russia and other states that is not in line with the "West"

I think Montenegro overall would be an asset. They are about 75% Christian. However, there are 3 enclaves of Muslims among them that are always a liability.

Well I have to agree, all though those Muslims there are Bosniaks and Albanians which are all ally of the NATO/US.

So it should not go against their interests. I remember one Slovenian military analyst describes Albanians as an ON/OFF people good to have, when US tells JUMP they ask how high.

Which could be said about what happened just some months ago when Macedonian parliament got in bed with the ruskies over the south stream, all the sudden there were Albanian former UCK guerrillas killing police officers just like 1999. One week later when US embassy talked with Macedonian leaders the Guerilla warfare went silent.

I understand that pretty good, I'm Serb my self. Although Montenegro did not have a vote on this, could happen the same to Serbia.
Remember how Vucic was against EU during the elections, and now EU is like Serbias no1 priority.

Sure NATO maybe would be even good for Serbia too, but I rather choose the right way and that is not joining ones that bombed you. Like the good ol partisans said, bolje grob nego rob.

“If someone threatens our territories, it means that we will have to aim our armed forces accordingly at the territories from where the threat is coming. How else could it be? It is NATO that approaching our borders, it’s not like we are moving anywhere,”-Putin

    16 June 2015

"I'd refrain from whipping up emotions. Of course, we will analyze everything but so far I see nothing that might prompt us to [take responsive measures]," he said.

Let's wait for his response to this

NATO made it hard for Turkey when this country wanted to be part of it.

Now NATO is invited anyone to joint it.

Ignorant supporters of NATO can't understand that the US is in bankruptcy, and the West leaning on a dollar without funds is next to collapse.

NATO is the tool used to justify the imminent falling of the West economy: WAR.

You better pay higher taxes and demand to cut off 50% of unnecessary contracts with the US government in order to "balance the budget" and live in peace with the rest of the world.

But, idiots are idiots, and they believe that NATO against Russia and China will be a far away war... until the first bombs hit their houses they will understand of their silly anxiety for war. Lol
