In late January, President Trump's economic adviser Peter Navarro warned his White House colleagues the novel coronavirus could take more than half a million American lives and cost close to $6 trillion, according to memos obtained by Axios.

The state of play: By late February, Navarro was even more alarmed, and he warned his colleagues, in another memo, that up to 2 million Americans could die of the virus.

• Navarro's grim estimates are set out in two memos — one dated Jan. 29 and addressed to the National Security Council, the other dated Feb. 23 and addressed to the president. The NSC circulated both memos around the White House and multiple agencies.
• In the first memo, which the New York Times was first to report on, Navarro makes his case for "an immediate travel ban on China."
• The second lays the groundwork for supplemental requests from Congress, with the warning: "This is NOT a time for penny-pinching or horse trading on the Hill."

Why it matters: The president quickly restricted travel from China, moved to delay re-entry of American travelers who could be infected, and dispatched his team to work with Congress on stimulus funds.

• But Trump was far slower to publicly acknowledge the sort of scenarios Navarro had put in writing.

Yet Trump will continue to scapegoat the W.H.O. or anyone else rather that acknowledge his guilt of not reacting to this threat earlier. And yes, his intentional denial comes at the cost of many American lives. Even now after all of this has been exposed for all to see, Peter Navarro is still covering up for Trump against the scientists and experts like Dr. Fauci because as Navarro said, he is a 'social scientist'.

Navarro already had a reputation for issuing "doom and gloom" memos, so I suppose we could chalk this up to him being "The Boy Who Cried Wolf."

 

Trump saved those millions of souls from being trampled and/or killed for food, water, and shelter. He didn't drive fear into the hearts of Americans. He kept his cool while democrats told us that 50% of the country would be killed by this virus. They told us Donald Trump's calm demeanor to the situation was killing thousands and will kill millions.

In the end, the country has started to realize that Trump did the best thing that could be done. He has helped us stay afloat during lost employment, and he's giving tax payers a bump. The democrats couldn't win based on their platform so in order for them to help Americans affected by coronavirus, they wouldn't generate a bill unless it had several things from their failed platform written in it, things that had total irrelevance to the coronavirus.

Normally I don't pay a lot of attention to Trump selections as the come and go with the wind. Clearly this one is bringing out the mysoginistic hatred of the lefties that we haven't seen since Sarah Sanders. In my book I wish this young lady a long career at poking her finger in the eye of her detractors.

I never heard of her. I get my news online, don't watch tv, and generally have no use for pop culture. Quite frankly a ball string and cat is more entertaining than most of the garbage produced in Hollywood these days..
