Well for starters, s/he's in England. So I doubt s/he has any experience in American public education. Secondly, it is obvious in the way s/he speaks about it. So I think I'm on pretty solid ground.

Nobody is making any excuses. For my part, I want to see the whole video - not just the part that makes the cop look bad.

A K-12 school that is so poorly controlled that it needs police and security officers in it is a stupid joke.

None of my K-12 schools in good rural/small town America needed to have police and security there. The rare fistfights between students were quickly handled by teachers and staff.

No such school should ever have to put up with violent and disruptive students who ruin the schools for better students. Under Trump, schools may have a chance to allow bad students to be expelled or placed in alternative schools or classes. Many urban wasteland schools may require half of their schools or classes be segregated (between good/bad students) to ensure the safety and quality education of the better students.

Think of it as the new "Special Education."

No, they're not being gunned down because of the police presence, video cameras everywhere, bullet proof glass, metal detectors and hardened security at those schools.

Remove all that, and the violence inside the schools would match the violence in the community.

Blah, blah, blah, blah. What does any of that have to do with this coward picking up a 100lb kid and slamming her to a concrete floor.

What I find amazing is that the very people who don't associate with black folks and don't go anywhere where black folks are at, are always the experts on what is happening in Black neighborhoods.

One advantage of having been in the military is knowing people from all walks of life, from everywhere in the US. You also get stationed all over the place so you see a lot more than the average person.

I grew up in a school that was close to a 50/50 mix and back then we didn't have these things happening, but they're happening now.

Are you suggesting all of those things I listed earlier aren't happening? That these mass fights, social media flash mobs, and problems in schools aren't really happening? Is that your position?

Before I watched the video and read the comments, I saw "innocent little girl" and "small CHILD" mentioned, but then read the article and watched the video which shows a 15 year old high school student and saw only a few seconds of a video clip which tells me very little. I'm not saying it's justified or not, none of us know what led up to this. The cop may have had to get her under control quickly before others were hurt or he's just an (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) bully cop. To say there is no justification for taking her down is just bull(*)(*)(*)(*) too. If she was out of control, hitting and kicking others and no obeying the officer, she would deserve it.

I did go to a majority black school. How do you know what and where the posters here lived and went to school?

That's the "longer" version? Still doesn't show what led up to it.

So we both agree the girl slammed by the cop had been involved in a physical altercation.
I realize her friends said she "was breaking up the fight". Quite often that proves to be code for perpetrator. Other times it's a standard response to protect fellow ethnic persons from prosecution by the police.

Let's wait for the facts. I suspect in a week or two we'll find out there is more to the story. (remember "Hands up don't shoot"?)

What story do we need to wait for?

What reason would he have to pick this girl up and body slam her.

Good question - without all the facts, apparently we are to surmise, assume and prognosticate.
    Here are 3 potential reasons-
    1. The cop showed up, picked out a black girl and beat the crap out of her (with many witnesses - some with cameras) just because she was black.
    2. He showed up, saw the girls fighting, grabbed a girl, but she (without knowing it was a cop) started swinging and punched him.
    3. The iPhone used to record what happened was hacked by the Russians and is fake news.

I'm going to wait for more facts.

Your statement that he should be fired immediately is as bad as saying she deserved it.

How about waiting until more details are released

Yah, no. Breaking up a fight simply means that. Am I typing in Sanskrit? You know what those words mean, right?

That was excessive force regardless of what the girl did or didn't do.

Lets fire the guy and get all the facts for his aggravated assault arraignment. Zero tolerance for kidslammers.

This (*)(*)(*)(*) would have landed her father in jail were he taped doing it. No questions asked.
