Um...just a couple of years ago the "left" was dismissing the tea parties over admitted plants holding signs. And now this? A planet of hypocrites.
it does if you don't leave, or at least denounce them, joining them in a softball game isn't enough opposition. all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing...but then the path of least resistance seems to be OWS' M.O.
Wow...so if you don't leave, your beliefs automatically change to believe in race wars and that Jews are evil... It's hard for me to imagine how weak Rightist convictions are when your beliefs can change based on just who is in your vicinity.
There are those with personal agendas who will infiltrate any group seeking publicity. In Britain it's the anarchist minority who show up at anti-Nazi demonstrations, which the right-wing press jump on to use their more violent tactics to smear every peaceful protestor with. I read the same here-'they're all filthy communist hippies', 'soap and water', and equally ignorant reactionary rubbish.
And yet, it doesn't make you a stray dog. By the way, are you claiming that beliefs can be forced on others simply by osmosis?
guilt by association isn't a legal principle (mostly), but it is applicable in the court of public opinion.
guilt by association. does Reagan visiting a cemetery where members of the SS were buried ring a bell?
Nope, and your using poor logic. Really, you're not implying that Reagan is a Nazi or neo-Nazi for visiting a cemetery are you?
That depends, Thinks. If you welcome him in, yes. If you don't slam the door, yes. Consider what OccupyWhatever and Neo-Nazis have in common. A hatred of Jews and a passion for concentration camps, and a love of purges would be a start.
The all-inclusive (to anyone willing to bash Global Capitalism) and all-message approach the Occupy movement has taken means that clowns like the neo-Nazis in question can't really be kept away. It doesn't mean the vast majority of Occupy demonstrators approve of the racist clowns but rather that such a badly-organized movement needs some serious reform if it intends to be relevant. If the OWS had been part of the Arab Spring, it would have failed within a week, due to its lack of planning and organisation and coherent message.
So you agree that when racists showed up to Tea Party events, that meant that the entire Tea Party were racists?
Oh, lordy, yes. We've never seen that associated with communists, socialists, and other leftists, have we? But, if you choose to associate with racists, anti-semites, misogynists, Luddites, and communists is it an error in logic to assume you have some sympathy or interest in them? In the city where I live the teachers' union welcomed anarchists to their marches with hugs and cheers and then when rocks and gasoline bombs were thrown the teachers were shocked, shocked mind you. So, take the "guilt by association is a common tactic of the right" and stuff it.
If there's a common principle in which disparate groups have a common interest, then it is in the core priciple where the consensus lies. There is no reason to assume there are any mutual sympathies beyond that. Guilt by association is a pathetically transparent attempt at generalisation. And yes, assumption is a dangerous, simplistic and idiotic stance upon which to form opinions.
Well, here in Portland we do not have Black Panthers, but we sure do have a lot of NeoNazi hate crimes!
