    Absolutely, and he was definitely no traitor. His home was Virginia. By not taking up his States cause, that would have made him a traitor to his home. America was not as unified as it is now back then. Different times, different outlooks. But these bastards would have them all viewed as nothing but hateful racists.

    Yup its all been turned on its head when the south lost so did we all by losing states rights. People back then though of their state as who they owed loyalty first. It was more like the EU. Even today however you ask most Americans over seas where they are from and they will tell you the state not the US. We were originally called the united States of America not the United States of America

    I wonder how many low income families that could have helped have a nice christmas dinner?

    What they never tell us is that the North and the federal government did not treat Confederates as traitors and that their soldiers deserved all the honors that Northern troops deserved.

    Much of left is of incredible hypocrisy. While raging against Confederate flags they rage that we mus respect people in the ME of the religion of Islam, that treats women and virtually everyone as slaves. It comes down to hatred of America and Americans in my opinion because people are now taught in universities that it is enlightened to despise America and Americans, while worshipping what is anti-American and non-conventional, even if horrific.

    What is the lesson being learned now? If you are in the National Guard and your governor calls you to service and to fight, refuse. Ultimately, you may be declared a "loser and a traitor" and condemned.
