New York prosecutor hires forensic accountants as criminal investigation into Trump Organization escalates | The Independent

Biden may be forgiving of Trump's issues, but it's not clear New York shares his feelings.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, which has been investigating Mr Trump since 2018, reportedly retained a forensic accounting firm called FTI Consulting to examine the president’s finances, particularly any anomalies in his property deals.


Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance Jr, a Democrat, opened his investigation into Mr Trump in 2018 to explore campaign season hush money payments made to two women who claimed they’d previously had affairs with the president.

It has since expanded to consider the Trump Organization’s sprawling business empire, and investigators have pored over Mr Trump’s financial records, spoken with employees at Deutsche Bank, his most important lender, and subpoenaed insurance broker Aon.

I think Vance will get him.

I hope they get Trump (if laws were broken).

That said, Trump has way of slithering out of things.

 

I hope Vance gets him, too. And anybody else that has a case against him. How many are there, anyway? The story is only a reminder, though. This is just a step in the process.

I do like the term "forensic." Some denialists have been fond of it recently. "Forensic analysis of source code and hardware. We talked to Chavez and Castro.

Last year I would have brushed this off as butthurt harassment. But after all the needless COVID deaths the Father of Anti-Masking has helped cause I really couldn't give a damn if NYC spends the next decade forcing Pres Trump, his family, and any person who's ever worked with him in and out of a court room. However I honestly do not think any of these investigations are going to find anything of substance. I'm sure legal trickery and malfeasance abound there will be some fines paid at some point and maybe, just maybe, a few lower tier players copping to some minor infractions but IMO the idea of Pres Trump being directly indicted or much less imprisoned is a wet dream. But by all means harass the hell out of him, I don't think he shouldn't be given a moments peace, not anymore.

 

Michael Cohen has already told the world about trump's insurance fraud and income tax fraud. I see no reason why trump will be kept busy by the New York court system for the next several years trying to keep his ass out of prison. One can only hope!

 

This is political prosecution and is meant to put fear into any other non establishment contender who might put Americans first.

 

Every time the Trumpsters tried to make little of Trump’s considerable efforts to hide his finances, and claim that you can’t find anything in tax returns alone, I would patiently explain what a forensic accountant is.

Forensic accountants have brought down a lot more skillful fraudsters and money launderers than Donald Trump. Especially, since we are already aware of several instances in which Trump paid judgements, payoffs and legal bills out of any checkbook that seemed to have some cash in the account at the moment. Guys like him make it easy for a decent forensic accountant.

Trump was not a squeaky clean individual prior to his time as POTUS. Most smart folks don't elevate their exposure when they have things to hide, but Trump the narcissist couldn't help himself.
