yep, the commercials do suck and slow the game down. They've over done the commercial thing to the point where it's insane. Do we really need a commercial between the extra point and the kick off and then between the kick off and the first play?
An old boyfriend of mine is President of one of the unions in NJ. He makes more money in a week than most of us make in a year. NFL players will never get paid the same thing as each other. Nor should they. Time of service shouldn't even be relevant. It's what they're worth to the team. That in itself isn't equal.
They should... They could even get a merit raise every year. At least that would push them to do good. Unsportsmanlike should penalize the entire team about $15K. A couple of those and the teammates would be making sure their hotdogs didn't showing off again. I remember back when Odell Beckham Jr. was a humble WR that made play after play and never showed off and was one of the best WR's LSU ever had. You're a Giants fan, I don't have to tell you how he started acting in the NFL when money took him over.
It is interesting to see reality come out. Most football fans are conservatives and Republicans. So, predictably, the left will turn on its own and cheer their fellow leftwing protesters pay being cut, fans dropping off and support decline, hoping they all lose their jobs over this.
All I'm doing here is point out what unions typically do. In sports it's to the union's advantage to not have set salaries and it also allows the owners to get into bidding wars for free agents. So no, there will never be set salaries for the players, although $12 million a year seems to be the going rate for QBs.
I love the convoluted logic at work here. Denying free speech is respecting "the flag". This is an attack on the 1st Amendment. A bunch of control freaks can't stand a symbolic gesture. I hope you all kill the NFL.
Yay! I'm not a lefty but I believe in the 1st Amendment. Kill the NFL!!! Tell all those black men to learn their place. The 1st Amendment will not be tolerated.
Odell Beckham made the greatest catch I've ever seen against the Cowboys. But his on the field attitude sucks and that dog peeing thing was stupid. He's starting to remind me of Terrell Owens.
Matthew Stafford (Detroit QB) is the highest paid NFL player - even higher than Rodgers or Brady for some reason.
Restrictions of repercussions of free speech only applies to the government. Try using the N word in your work place and declare it's your right.
TO's on Dancing With The Stars. And he SUCKS! The only football player who was on that show and worse than him was Lawrence Taylor.
You're right, it doesn't effect them all, but it effects most. Fournette is a special kind of breed, one we don't come across often. I remember when we hosted South Carolina at Tiger Stadium after all the flooding SC was receiving. We gave SC home field advantage and after the game, Fournette auctioned off his game jersey, after permission was granted by the NCAA, and gave every last penny to SC for help. It was only $101,000 but it was very thoughtful. Sorry, but I gotta post some of my favorite Fournette gifs when he was with LSU...
Are you suggesting that football coaches should not put the best athletes on the field to represent their schools? Ordinary players can compete in intramural sports or recreational teams. High School, College and Professional sports are competitions designed to put the best athletes on the field to compete against each other.
I would be inclined to say that a 20%, or even 15% decline in ratings would be considered way down. Having said that, a 31% decline is most definitely way down. It kills you people that Trump repeats facts and you can't refute them. Ratings have been steadily dropping since players on every team began kneeling in week 2 or 3. Politico is only there to reel in the suckers and other anti-Trumpers.
It still taps into the viewings. Live streams always show the amount of people streaming. Even if I were to DVR the game to skip commercials, it shows up as being viewed.
Yeah right, dude. You also said the Denver player that Ford cut would make more in a year than that Ford dealership would make in ten. Your numbers are as inaccurate as Andrew Jackson's predictions.
Yeah man, however you gotta twist it... I hope it kills the NFL too. If not, maybe it will make them humble again.
Exactly. He went from one of my favorite players to one that I lost all respect for. Did you ever see this? It was a kickoff that he caught one handed.
Ha, yeah, I suppose that compared to such major-league sports as "Curling", the NFL players move along quickly -- as long as there aren't too many plays in a row that last more than, say, seven seconds. . "Whoa! Don't blink! You might miss something!"
