EUROPOL and U.S. DEA can't provide own independent evidences of involvement of Kurdish organisations in drug trafficking February 1, 2012 BRUSSELS, The European Police Office (EUROPOL) and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) cannot provide own independent evidences or juridical facts for involvement of Kurdish organisations in drug trafficking, as Turkey claims in order to criminalise the Kurds. These are the findings of a report by Ararat News just published. According to journalist Roni Alasor Patrick Byrne, Assistant Director for the Operations Department at EUROPOL, and Russell F. Benson, Regional Director in the US DEA, analyzed the Global Drug Trafficking Trends & Terrorism in Brussels Press Club. According to the drug experts, the drug smugglers are becoming more clever, while the drug trafficking environment is more dynamic. While describing the new routes of trafficking, the European and American drug experts could not provide their own independent and juridical facts proving the involvement of Kurdish organisations in drug trafficking. Questioned about any juridical evidences, Patrick Byrne and other high level EU sources told Ararat News that EUROPOLs reports are not based on EUROPOLs independent and own juridical investigation or from any European court, but they are based on information provided by national police authorities. The allegations for involvement of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in drug trade are based on Turkish sources, said a EU diplomat. She conclude that : We ask them several times for more details and concrete facts than short reports, but EUROPOL and DEA dont have any juridical reports or own investigations to prove with concrete facts these allegations. It is well-known fact that the only source of drug allegations against the Kurdish organisations are the Turkish authorities which are on war against Kurdish people and continuously use this as part of their criminalisation policy against Kurdish organisations. But they remained always unproved for the European police and secret services. We ask everyone once again to prove whatever they have in their hand as a respect for the people of the United States and the European Union which represents 27 European nations, said Remzi Kartal and Zubeyir Aydar. Since it was established in 1984, the Kurdistan Workers' Party PKK has been fighting the Turkish state, which still denies the constitutional existence of Kurds, to establish a Kurdish state in the south east of the country, sparking a conflict that has claimed some 45,000 lives. But now its aim is the creation an autonomous Kurdish region and more cultural rights for ethnic Kurds who constitute the greatest minority in Turkey, numbering more than 20 million. A large Turkey's Kurdish community openly sympathise with the Kurdish PKK rebels. PKK's demands included releasing PKK detainees, lifting the ban on education in Kurdish, paving the way for an autonomous democrat Kurdish system within Turkey, reducing pressure on the detained PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, stopping military action against the Kurdish party and recomposing the Turkish constitution. Turkey refuses to recognize its Kurdish population as a distinct minority. It has allowed some cultural rights such as limited broadcasts in the Kurdish language and private Kurdish language courses with the prodding of the European Union, but Kurdish politicians say the measures fall short of their expectations. The PKK is considered as 'terrorist' organization by Ankara, U.S., the PKK continues to be on the blacklist list in EU despite court ruling which overturned a decision to place the Kurdish rebel group PKK and its political wing on the European Union's terror list.
