I admit I only get snippets of what is happening in National Rifle Association (NRA) land but the snippets are sort of - WOW! Their president Oliver North (yeah that guy) resigned and their lead guy Wayne LaPierre has been caught with his hands deep in the NRA cookie jar. $200,000 for suits, etc.? Evidently the New York AG is going after NRA with a vengeance to kill their tax status. What's going on? Any comments?
The NRA is nothing more than a symbol, people will still email their congresspersons and want the least restrictions humanly possible on their second amendment rights. As Texas showed, the right to bare arms is an important one.
2nd amendment exists... NRA simply fights to keep it that way... I'm not shocked NY is going after the NRA.
The neo-communist goal is to brand the NRA as a terrorist group so they can go after their members and round them up. Neo-coms will deny they intend to do this till the day they do it.
Your OP is fully a year out of date. The leftie feared NRA has been in a tailspin for years because its leader Wayne LaPierrie has been robbing the vault for his own personal gratification. If you want to continue to post about the terrible "gun lovers lobbies", look to the Second Amendment Foundation, the NSSF, or the hundreds of local State organizations that have greater influence. Start in VA for example. It will keep you busy for weeks.
LMAO. NRA have become full of itself and so corrupt even Ollie can't stand it and resign. LaPierre haven't done anything lately but to ask for money to satiate his appetite for that rich lifestyle he have grown accustomed to. I get nothing but spam mail from the NRA asking for more money.
I don't know but I heard that their being a 'non-profit' is the big factor that leads to their being in trouble. I guess time will tell. LaPierre reminds me of being a lot like trump. Had the world in his hand and that wasn't good enough.
With or Without the NRA, The 2nd Amendment isn't going anywhere. At this point, any donation to the NRA is like setting money on fire to line Wayne's pockets.
I do agree that they Hound you for money steadily. I actually got into a bit of a pissing match with the last solicitor that called me from there because I did not like his transcript at all. And in the end I just basically told him to suck it up and deal with the money that they have because I wasn't donating a penny extra. I actually do think some of the other organizations have pretty strong influences well so if I wanted to invest extra money into fighting the gun grabbers I would probably put it in somebody else's pocket besides the NRA.
If I were a sane person (I am) and a gun owner (that too) I wouldn't send a red cent to any scam artist panicking gun owners with "The Dems are coming for your guns, women, and chickens!" Gun nuts have taken so many bites of that apple that even the seeds are gone. Wake up. You're being played - slippery slope and all.
The financial establishment has muscled the NRA out of power by bullying credit processing agencies into refusing to do business with them. Which hasn't stopped states, counties and local govts all over the nation from taking pro 2A stances in the slightest, because the NRA has only ever been the result of Americas valuation of the right to self defense, as opposed to the cause of it that gun controllers prefer to percieve it as. The NRA is nearly dead. And yet we're today as far from becoming disarmed, dependent victims as we've ever been. Not impossibly due to the lack of the NRA running interference on the issue.
The NRA is just an effigy. The attack and celebratory attitude is because they think people are going to be devastated. They don't realize the NRA doesn't represent the power of the people they represent. It's more like a Hydra. You cut the head off two more will grow.
I was once of their same mindset, I was repulsed by a firearm and hated the idea(still do actually, on a personal level.) But after being strong arm robbed, I realized that it's there for a reason: It's a tool, like fire and just like fire you can use it for good(cooking) or evil(arson/murder). It's all in the intent.
