NY Times Opinion: It’s Time To Take A Second Look At ‘Free Speech’ (Update)

Is free speech killing us? If someone finds someone else's speech offensive is that reason enough to censor them? Is there some medium here?

 

That's the trend that the left has squeezed every advantage out of free speech that they can and now want to shut it down.

This is just some kook's opinion. No biggy. It won't come to pass.

 

Propaganda must have a strong hegemony to be effective because otherwise its underlying fallacious nature is too easily exposed. Such a hegemony existed for decades in favor of the gov-edu-union-contractor-grantee-trial lawyer-MSM Complex, but the net has been a spoiler of it. So... of course all non hegemonic discourse is "hateful," incites violence, and must be stopped. When there are truly competing views, a discussion must ensue, and the propagandist abhors discussion of any type.

Efforts by the tech giants and others in the Complex to censor free speech will backfire more and more as they intensify. The die is cast. Sorry Complex, you are going to be undergoing massive changes over the next few decades in favor of a new Renaissance of American individuality, anti statism, anti tax/redistribution/public union/edu corruption regime, and anti celebrity culture-consumerism. People will pick and choose what to consume instead of being force-fed, and this is very bad for the Complex. "Trump the Baptist" is merely the herald, it is going to get much worse for you and yours brought by far more compelling leaders of the near future. My generation is the last one you own with your lying statist propaganda, and you are losing more and more of even that daily.

Younger people who came of age in the 80s-2000s will be the most zealous converts because they were lied to most egregiously and will recoil the most when the lies out.

Better find a useful way to please your fellow man with voluntary exchange in the private sector. The lazy leeching days for the Complex are coming to a close. Rail some more about how free speech is a problem though, that's -sure- to pack the house in your favor.

 

They aren't floating this without reason. This is what they do, push a radical idea, see how far they can get, or if it actually has some real traction. If it doesn't fly they pretend it was just some loose cannon and revisit it again later. The next step will be to push something similar, although toned down, like a specific case, then they'll built it up to this...

 

Absolute propaganda.

Easily seen by the fact the BEST speech is not even mentioned, let alone described.

The notion we are a society of idiot sheep, unaware of their status or its true meanings, is not misplaced here.
