certainly i do How Education And Training Affect The Economy "The knowledge and skills of workers available in the labor supply is a key factor in determining both business and economic growth. Economies with a significant supply of skilled labor, brought on through school education as well as training, are often able to capitalize on this through the development of more value-added industries, such as high-tech manufacturing." http://www.investopedia.com/articles/economics/09/education-training-advantages.asp
I believe that is why we have dual enrollment. It almost serves the same thing as free two year college except you have to have at least a B average to get in, limits some people.
I heard an interview of some young folks at a ski/snowboarding area this morning. The first question was: Who was the first president? Over half had no idea. The second question was: When was he president? None had a clue. If this is the caliber of geniuses the public system turns out, imagine how great free, public "college" grads are gonna be! We need educated people, but I am far from believing that problem centers solely around money. One of the biggest issues I see in our young men and women is a complete lack of motivation, lack of respect and pure laziness. Their priorities are askew in most cases. Finding a job to pay for the car/gas/insurance they want takes a backseat to beating the latest xbox game. Even when they have a job, they whine at having to work more than 10-15 hours per week, or god forbid the boss calls and asks them if they can come in because someone called off. The expend much effort in finding excuses or reasons to not work. I want to know, where is the money coming from to send everyone to free college.
I could go for something like that too. I'd say you'll have to be careful with the GPA though or we'll end up with a lot of certain demographics whining about racism or something if they don't make it.
But here's the issues with some of that: Jobs - they don't care because in reality, most don't want to work. Parental approval - that, I think has more to do with our "education dilemma" than anything else. Poor parenting in general. Self improvement - Most can't even define that, A minimum GPA sounds good until a minority isn't making it and we all know what'll happen then.
Yet there you go again with another one, forcing people to pay for something I want. Education being as important as it is, I was hoping we'd advance the discussion beyond the ideological boundaries of left vs. right. As a principled conservative myself, I still find merit in the idea.
But everything to do with your pathetic attempt to just fire off an insult. Add something worthwhile to the discussion or clamp your cake hole.
