Breaking news on the telly... Obama shows up here in Portland Oregon and nobody was there - no Gov, no Mayor... No public official was to be seen. Portland is like a small San Fran - and is ridiculously blue and nobody showed... All watching the telly said it was disrespectful for them to do such a thing, but - too late - IT JUST HAPPENED!!!!!
What confuses me, when Bush showed up, someone met him at the Tarmac, but when Obama shows up, all the Democrats are a no-show. I mean our Gov. is gay! Ron Wyden (whom I love) didn't show up either (advocate for stem cell research). No Democrat....
Perhaps if he had given this thread the appropriate title, it might seem a bit more appropriate for posting in the Religion Forum: "JESUS CHRIST, Obama showed up in my city today, and nobody showed up!!" See? Isn't that better?
Well, if everyone agrees, what is the point of showing up? Wave flags? Sounds like a waste of time. Then again, I think that about the times the audience does show up too.
Well, interestingly, now they placed it under Other Political issues/Campaign and Political reform, a subforum with only two threads.
Maybe it has to do with the lack of a point? My first thought is that Obama is there on his own behalf, not supporting anyone who has to run again this year. Those peole have official business to attend to. If they had showed up, we would probably hear some wrong-winger whining about how Obama is using the services of officials on the public's time to promote his own ass. Haters gonna hate whether the brutha is right or wrong.
Remembering 2010 mids...quite a few Dems did not want to be attached to the leperous Obama. Probably similar, with maybe a fear of him launching some sort of radical gun control policies, and not wanting to be attached to that maelstrom if it happened.
