A new poll from the Democrat-friendly Public Policy Polling shows some internals that should be deeply troubling for any president seeking re-election.

Although Gov. Romney is up by just one percentage point in this poll, his favorability ratings are at +4: 49 percent favorable to 45 percent unfavorable. The president's favorability numbers are just the opposite, at -4: 46 percent favorable against 50 percent unfavorable.

And--this could be enormous--Gov. Romney actually leads among independents by an astounding 16 percentage points!

I think that explains Romney's debate performance in the 3rd debate. He left a lot of good attack lines on the table, like Behghazi, and just tried to play Mr Serious. Meanwhile, Obama poured on the aggression and snark. So Obama "won" the debate, but it looks like it helped Romney where he needed it, the likability factor.
