This is really pretty funny. I visited Glacier NP when these signs were up and rolled my eyes when I saw them. Now they have quietly been removed as glaciers in the park grow instead of shrink.

"Glacier National Park quietly removed a sign at its visitor center saying the glaciers will disappear by 2020 which were originally placed because former President Obama believed the predictions pushed by the left’s climate change hypothesis.

According to federal officials, several years in a row of high snowfall and cold temperatures totally obliterated a computer model that authorities relied on to claim that the glaciers would all be melted by 2020…"

"Glaciers appear to be growing, not melting in recent years at Glacier National Park.
Officials at Glacier National Park (GNP) have begun quietly removing and altering signs and government literature which told visitors that the Park’s glaciers were all expected to disappear by either 2020 or 2030."

    WHY ARE THEY MELTING?

Glaciers, by their dynamic nature, respond to climate variation and reveal the big picture of climate change. Unable to adapt, like living creatures, GNP’s relatively small alpine glaciers are good indicators of climate, the long-term average of daily weather conditions. A glacier forms when winter snowfall exceeds summer melting. Glaciers retreat when melting outpaces accumulation of new snow. Despite occasional big winters or frigid weeks that occur, the glaciers of GNP, like most glaciers worldwide, are melting as long term average temperatures increase. Analysis of weather data from western Montana shows an increase in summer temperatures and a reduction in the winter snowpack that forms and maintains the glaciers. Since 1900 the mean annual temperature for GNP and the surrounding region has increased 1.33°C (Pederson et al. 2010), which is 1.8 times the global mean increase. Spring and summer minimum temperatures have also increased (Pederson et al. 2011), possibly influencing earlier melt during summer. Additionally, rain, rather than snow, has been the dominant form of increased annual precipitation in the past century (Selkowitz et al. 2002). Despite variations in annual snowpack, glaciers have continued to shrink, indicating that the snowpack is not adequate to counteract the temperature changes.

Which does nothing but avoid the subject of the OP. Glacier NP quietly removed signs predicting the glaciers you are looking at will be gone by the year 2020. They should now read glaciers you are looking at have recently been growing but don't hold your breath for that.:roflol:

Do you actually think they removed signage because they wanted to?

When the boss says do something....you do it or get fired.

So they should have left signs up predicting the glaciers you are looking at will be gone by 2020 as it's clear those glaciers aren't going anywhere anytime soon? Hmm, great idea and I like it. That would give toursist a good laugh and make for great photo ops.

Actually most people see glaciers that signs in front of them say are gone so the signs came down.:)

Climate change has stopped? And when did that happen?

    https://www.theguardian.com/environ...-losing-its-glaciers-with-just-26-of-150-left

So tell me when did all 150 glaciers reform?

Read the prediction, either 2020 or 2030 which is a really wide margin of error. And according to your own source it was short-term localized cooling that is tough to predict not a long-term global trend.

This threads not about warming that has been going on since the end of the LIA and glaciers either completely formed or added to during that period. It's about Obama era predictions that the glaciers in GNP would be gone by next year and instead they are growing. It's about signs lamenting the glaciers disappearance put up by the NP quietly being removed. Deal with it.

The NP took signs down that said by 2020 the glaciers you are looking at will be gone. Here it is 2019 and the glaciers are bigger than they were when the signs went up. Kind of embarrassing and the NP decided to remove them before the date on the signs and the date on the calendar matched up. Funny stuff!

the trend is we are getting warmer.. most do not deny this... just the right is now switching to... yeah... but it's not us

that said, we have done a lot to reduce climate change, but it's only slightly making a difference, lots more needs to be done.... but imo, wont be

when that time comes, drastic changes will happen and science will have to take drastic risky measures to reverse it...

Yes, but that doesn't mean they won't melt by 2020 and this cooling is admitted by your own source to only be short-term and local not global.

Where did my sources "admit" that? That is the argument of the cult but my sources "admit" no such thing. Nice try though.

Over 40% of Greenland experienced melting yesterday, with total ice loss estimated to be more than 2 gigatons (a gigaton is equal to 1 billion tons).

Yeah that's a given if glaciers are growing instead of shrinking and in no way say what you claimed they did.
