I cannot believe that any man in this day and age would believe the ideas put forth in someone else's signature line.

How insecure does a man have to be to think that feminism or womens' suffragette has anything to do with the following?

    I am amazed.

    LEAVE..... their husbands,
    KILL..... their babies,
    PRACTICE.....witchcraft,
    DESTROY.....capitalism, and...
    BECOME.....lesbians

    :pc:

I am pro women's rights and am nothing of the above!!!!

That is absolutely ridiculous...not what you said, but that signature line. I was the first male at my University to graduate with a Minor in Women's and Gender Studies on top of my History degree, and I can say without a doubt that nothing in that signature line is true. Those ideals are never talked about in true feminist circles (not saying their aren't some whackjobs out there as there are in any field). Feminism is historically solely based on gaining equal rights and opportunities to life, liberty, and control over their own bodies that males enjoy. The key phrase here is "equal rights", not "special rights" or anything of that sort, but just to level the playing field for females. I'm also going to throw out the fact that conservative womens groups like the Daughters of the Confederacy and the Daughters of the American Revolution are seeped in historical feminist ideology, as are a number of other conservative groups.

To view the women's rights movement and the feminist movement with such vile hatred I'm guessing the person who has this as their signature knows very little about the history of the movements, or history in general. Rather, they are actually very scared and intimidated by women on a subconscious level and would no doubt refuse to admit it. They would rather see women subjected to inequality in the name of masculinity, simply because they are scared of the alternative.

Unrelated to the OP...I have to ask.

What can you do with a minor in Women's and Gender studies?
In other words, how does this knowledge transfer to a marketable skill?

I suppose a History degree, you can attend graduate school and teach or go to law school, but c'mon...

    Women's and Gender studies?

You'll be working at Starbucks with that.

LOL...As with any degree if you take a certain number of courses under a designated set of curriculum you may be granted the "minor" status under your degree. I just so happened to have taken a the required amount of courses that fulfill this obligation, and merely mentioned it to relay that I do have knowledge on this topic that goes beyond the "look at me and my education" statement. I also have two other minors, one in Native American Studies and another in Ethnic Studies, which just means I have a bit more knowledge in those areas than other Historians (I had friends in the program who graduated with minors in other things...WWII Studies, Ancient History, etc.).

But yes, you're right, I would assume a general degree in Women's Studies isn't going to get one very far.

I remember Anita Bryant singing about the "Florida Sunshine Tree", and Jane Russell promoting Playtex "Cross Your Heart" bras.

That's what I get for trying to watch John and Yoko on the Mike Douglas Show! :)

Yes...yes it was. It even had the added bonus that the Women's Studies professor was a rather good looking lady.

    Happy days!

It was criminal what this woman went thru just because she had the audacity to utter HER beliefs.

I think the guy that thre the pie at her died of ads. You know, the people hat did that to her had their own agenda. And because there was no internet they got away with it. One of the early example of the politics of personal destruction.

Actually--the liberal feminist agenda does promote all of the above....except perhaps witchcraft. That would need an explanation. I tend to think they promote more in the line of Atheism.

Marriage---takes sacrifice and putting your partner or the marriage first. Feminists aren't ok with that. The woman comes first. Self-sacrifice for the marriage or the children is holding all women back.

Babies prevent equality--because women have a desire to place children over career. Women often decide to take jobs of less pay and responsibility to focus on their little "ball and chain"

    So abortion is encouraged.

Capitalism doesn't work for the feminists--because we need the government to force private business to supply free daycares and paid for maternity leave. Government needs to take control of the hiring and firing to ensure women are treated equally even if they can't do the job. If women have inequality given to them from nature...the government needs to "fix it" in the workplace.

AND--many radical fems believe that a woman isn't ever free if she chooses a man as her partner. They also believe that women as a sex are natually lesbian...depending on what the woman chooses.
