One conspiracy theory vs another

So, I have been accused of making personal attacks for saying that the idea that countries all around the world are allowing their citizens to die just so Big Pharma can make even more money is no less crazy than people saying the earth is flat.

I truly cannot see any difference between the two CTs.

 

I'm playing this one 'at face value' and saying that both are equally crazy.

Here's the thing -- even if we take the most cynical view of this whole thing from a pharmaceutical corporation's point of view, how is it beneficial for having huge numbers of people just DIE when they could be injected with vaccines? Remember, in nearly all the world that I've heard about, the GOVERNMENTS of countries are 'footing the bill' for the vaccines and the cost of 'jabbing' the people....

So, if you're Mr. Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson, etc., etc., you'd probably want everybody to be fully alive and jabbed full of your corporation's vaccine -- right...? Or is there something I've misunderstood?

 

I think neither are true, though I also think neither is crazy. The lengths the power elite can and will go to to control us are limited only by what they believe will work and what they believe will cause us to rise up against them.

I don't think countries around the world would allow their citizens to die just so Big Pharma could make more money (I presume thats what you meant to say as the question was cut off), but I do believe countries around the world would accept and engage cooperatively in protecting their herd immunity by suppressing the dangers of vaccines and take away peoples informed consent to prevent them from choosing to protect themselves from vaccine reactions over potentially sacrificing themselves to protect society from pandemic. That is precisely what we did in the US in the 80's when vaccine manufacturers told the govt they could not afford to make vaccines if they were to be held liable for the innevitable damages, so we created the NVICP to cover for them so they would continue to make vaccines.

And while I do think if the earth were flat (and thereby Antarctica represented a vast barrier encircling 'the known world' beyond which existed vastly more 'world' where we commonfolk were prohibited from going), there could be great encentive for the power elite to obfuscate that fact from us by convincing us it were round, and while I believe such a grand obfuscation would be possible today, I do not believe such an obfuscation would have been possible a hundred years ago. So while I think the theory has merit regarding intent and incentive, I do not believe it has merit regarding plausibility. But I don't think those who disagree are crazy.

I also don't think calling conspiracy theories crazy is a personal attack... thats an opinion you should be entitled to speak.

Big Pharma is a creature of Big Media. Big Media wants to control your life with Fakebook and Twister and other Social Media platforms.

It was actually a serious question. I have been wondering for years now if you all came up with the 2nd grad nicknames all by yourself or if there was some master list for you to choose from.

I really don't subscribe to the idea that people or ideas are crazy just because they aren't mainstream. I've been called "crazy" most of my life and find it hurtful. It's one reason that I try to be kind to everyone. There's simply no value in hurting others.

I also believe that new ideas infiltrate our societies very slowly so it takes a minute for (almost) everyone to get onboard and embrace those changes. What this means is there will always be a fringe group that fights against those changes (we NOW know the Earth isn't flat, but some still believe it is).

The most compelling reason I have for not discounting conspiracy theories out-of-hand is sometimes they are not wrong.

I like how you assume that there is some central control over these things and that it is nefarious. What even is "Big Media," exactly? What does it encompass, what does not not encompass, who controls it and how do they exercise control on such a large scale? How do they keep all of their Regular Joe and Jane employees in check? RT had people quit in disgust some years back over how dishonest they are, for instance. How do "Big Media" keep a tight lid on that and manage to so effectively control everything, including these social media giants that aren't even very well under control of their actual owners, let alone this hypothetical umbrella agency of "Big Media." And how exactly does "Big Pharma" fit into this organization?

The basic problem with such conspiracy theories is just how damned vast and implausible they are, not to mention lacking in supporting evidence.

The real issue here is that humans are a naturally paranoid species. Some of us are just wired to think in terms of conspiracies, to be paranoid about those with power and authority, but not in a constructive, informed, fact-based way.

 

Americans are fatter and sicker than ever in spite of record consumption of pharm products. It starts with the Standard American Diet (SAD), most of which is subsidized. Once symptoms show, pharm products are prescribed to mask symptoms so that the patient may comfortably continue their addiction to sugar, fat, and salt. Once side effects show, more pharm products are prescribed, and so on.

Record profits for the pharm industry and food giants equals illness and early death.

 

Actually... it is not merely that BigPharma is making extra money.;......
this has far, far, far, far more to do with control over the lives of people in the few nations that are still relatively free.......

If President Trump were in power today, July 16, 2021.......... the police of Cuba would be really, really, really scared......... (my wife whose first language is Spanish told me of hearing a reporter saying they had seen footage of the police of Cuba gouging out the eyes of a young man...... then pulling out his teeth.... then killing him.... this gives you a good idea of how the police of Cuba treat political dissident).........

This has more to do with power than with money.... but money is certainly a big issue!

I don't think Flat Earth is a conspiracy theory.

I'm not sure if there's a bigger conspiracy theory. You can't be a flat earther without being a massive conspiracy theorist. It's not like they think that those "promoting" a non-flat earth are just earnestly mistaken in their views. For them, the whole concept of globe is a massive conspiracy perpetrated by NASA, the airline industry, etc. They think the photos of a round earth are all photoshopped to try to sew doubt about the Bible, for example. I don't think I've ever seen any post, video, article, etc. from a flat earther that didn't appeal to a conspiracy theory of some kind.

 

Oh no, there are really people whom believe it. Most are religious people that use the bible as their proof the earth is flat.

 

I can’t say that’s a surprise, the average person isn’t all that bright. Throw in some bits of taking the Bible or any mythology literally and look what we get.

 

I was originally going to elaborate on my post but my wife was telling me it was time to go out. The reason I don't consider flat earth to be a conspiracy theory is because to be a conspiracy theory you need a powerful entity like a government, company, organization, Illuminati, Masons or whatever to control the truth. The "Truth is Out There" but someone is hiding it. The reason why Flat Earth does not fit is because anyone can prove it wrong. The cover ups do not matter because either through personal observation or using geometry you can prove the earth is not flat. Observe a lunar eclipse and see the curved shadow of the earth on the moon, dig and well or erect a tall poles and measures the angle cast by the shadows. A light source moving over a flat surface cast shadows that differ from moving over a curve surface. Use a telescope and watch a ship sail off the horizon and talk to someone on the ship with a phone. You will see them drop off the edge but you can still hear them on the phone. Or simply take a flight and you can see the curvature of the planet out the window. There are so many ways an individual can prove the premise wrong. You do not need the secret organizations to reveal the truth it is right in front of you. People that believe in flat earth IMO are more cultist than conspiracy theorist.

 

The flat earthers have an answer to all of those things, and they all think there is a powerful entity like the Illuminati or Masons (which to some are one in the same) behind it.

 

Really, I have never looked into their arguments. I am fascinated by so-called conspiracy theories and even support some but flat earth seems so elementary that it is not even worth the time to read what the have to say.
