The degradation of society begins with the degradation of the education system.
Given the degradation of industry and political relations, degradation in the education system will inevitably lead to the degradation of the entire society.
Look at the US economy - there is no real economy. Instead of a real manufacturing economy, today the US has an economy of dog hairdressers, waiters, bloggers, and the like.
Stock trading versus real production. Rising stock quotes in the production of nonsense (facebook, twitter ... etc.) is incredible.
Even the great American cinema has become a production of cinematic dung. Just think, today Korean and Iranian cinema is more interesting than the crafts of modern Hollywood. And this is despite the technical backwardness of the film industry in these countries from the United States.
Show me a modern writer with level Mark Twain or Jack London. I do not see such in modern literature US ...
And all these are signs of the degradation of society. Which, under the conditions of capitalism, is not able to develop further.

So what, cattle have no need to read or write or do math, just follow the rest of the herd like good cattle are supposed to.

below is a link to the bill

    https://olis.oregonlegislature.gov/liz/2021R1/Measures/Overview/SB744

Oregon is woke and Democrat voters know that it's racist/homophobic and non-binary to expect people living in the USA to be able to read and write

I fully support the right of Democrat voters to support this kind of stuff and those folks who believe in common-sense will leave the state leaving Oregon with the refuse it so deserves. That is what states rights are about. If you want common sense and values, you don't vote Democrat. If you like nonsense, vote Democrat in your state.

you'll notice a pattern among Democrat voters. The DNC gives talking points, NPR/ABC/CBS/NBC et al relay those talking points, Democrat voters parrot them.

"Boyle said in an emailed statement that suspending the reading, writing and math proficiency requirements will benefit "Oregon’s Black, Latino, Latina, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, Tribal, and students of colour."

I wonder how this actually benefits them. But, oh well. I do think it is rather funny though that the left keep on claiming it is those red state republicans who are uneducated who vote for Trump while they do things like this. Guess they're trying to raise up some Trump voters and turn Oregon red.

Why, they’ll get a graduating diploma which will open the path for them to the higher learning and further to become poets, rocket scientists, economists, engineers and famous writers.

That’s how this will actually benefit Oregon’s Black, Latino, Latina, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, Tribal, and students of colour.

It's the epitome of bigotry. The woke Democrats believe that these kids are incapable of passing a test.

No, it's worse than that. The woke Democrats believe that those kids do not need the ability to read, write or do the math.

Little different from the right and Trump / Fox.

Seems like a B.S. article, as is not uncommon, from this poster. The poorly-written article, at the link, seems only to be describing the Governor putting a, "pause," on NEW standards that were about to be adopted, before the pandemic hit. From what I can discern from the disingenuous trash article, it would seem that this new standard would be assessed by a particular "standardized," test. The fact that they do not have to pass this test, does NOT mean-- at least to anyone with the power to reason-- what the thread-creator took it to mean; i.e., that graduates can not read, write, or do math. If this were true, the logical extension of using that criterion, would be that no student in the country, who did not take (& pass) this specific test, could not be expected to be competent in any of the, "3 Rs." All this means is that Oregon's schools will continue using the traditional measure, teacher assessments, until 2027.

This hyperbolic tripe of an issue, from the Right, has only been used by the thread's author, D-O-I, as a vehicle for trotting out his hackneyed critique of modern American business, as being nothing but dog groomers, waiters, & the like. Anyone familiar with this poster, has surely seen it by now.

Historically, many world leaders started with the most educated people for their genocide. Historically, many families were opposed to the idea of their children going to college because they didn't want them exposed to new ideas or opportunities.

In short, it's much, much easier to control people with no exposure to ideas outside the mainstream.

Thanks for the actual summary of the bill, not provided by the OP. But this is clearly in response to the schools not being able to adequately substitute online learning for the classroom experience, during the pandemic (note the last line of the summary). The same is true, generally, for the entire country. What would you suggest, that, when we are finally past this, kids all go back to whatever grade they were in, when it started?

Secondly, this still does not mean that kids, "can't read." They had, after all, been going to school for 10 or 11 years. Surely, they'd been tested, in all that time. If they had been illiterate, they should not have been at least halfway through high school.

I maintain that this measure only exempts the graduates from taking some test; that is what is meant by a student, "showing" proficiency. Note that this exemption only applies IF THE STUDENT PASSED ALL HIS CLASSES.

Is this a loosening of the standard, for those who might be near the edge-- sure. But what is the alternative? Our education system, nationally, was not prepared for this. So students who'd made it close to the end, before the emergency, are being cut a break, like being let out of a final exam. It does not mean they aren't competent; and it is ridiculous to suggest that NONE of them are. If one was genuinely concerned about how Covid was affecting the education of the youth, that person would have been doing everything in their power to tamp down the pandemic, including getting immunized, avoiding crowds, wearing a mask, and washing their hands, constantly. I have a feeling that you would not pass THAT TEST.

For a quick reality check: our education system is not that great. Just perusing some of the postings here should give one an idea of how, "proficient," one need be in their writing, in order to graduate from high school-- and many of those posters graduated COLLEGE! As for doing math, I have long found that, even for simple calculations, most people are helpless, without a calculator. Go to any, even upscale restaurant, with presumably well-educated diners, and you will invariably see the calculators come out, for the check, or else find people struggling to figure out what 15% would be. Since that is a national condition, it's already factored-in; that is, no employer looks at a high school diploma as a certification of any but a base-level of skills, which these students should have already attained, by 10th grade. If they still can't read or write, there are much deeper problems with that school system, which will not be fixed with an exiting, standardized test.

    .

Ironically, special ed high school students can also get awarded regular diplomas without knowing how to read and write.

Apparently all the students in Oregon will now be on a special ed level.

Can you refute what is written?
In this case, explain - what is the use of Twitter or Facebook for society, besides the ability to show snot in the comments? Show the real reason for the growth in the capitalization of these companies. Maybe they are so important to society that if they disappear and the United States will die out?
And so that you can look at the REAL US economy, which at one time made America great, you just need to go to Detroit.

Shows just how racist the dims are. Don’t believe that blacks, Latinos, tribal and other “students of color” can keep up with whites. How sick are they?
In 1960 Detroit was one of America’s great city’s. One of America’s richest city’s. Black, white, Latinos all lived and worked and produced the products that America wanted and needed.
But they elected a dim mayor and every election since they have elected a dim mayor. Fast forward 60 years and Detroit is a crap hole. One of the poorest city’s in America. Population fell from 2 million to now 600,000.

well Oregon, you get the government you deserve!!!

And the Free Market responds by not hiring them or paying them only minimum wages.

That's false, since manufacturing is not a requirement for any successful economy, just as publicly-traded corporations are not a requirement for any economy to succeed.
