While this image does show things are improving.... We lost around 400000 jobs each month for around 16 months.... We are now gaining ~100000 jobs each month for the past 13 months... We lost 6,400,000 jobs in 16 months. We gained 1,300,00 jobs in 13 months. That is more than 5 million jobs plus much more from before this graph's era. Misrepresentation of data.
Global economy likely to continue to limp along... Leading Economists Offer Their Forecasts for 2012 December 30, 2011 - After a tough year in which the global economy faced one headwind after another, U.S. economists are weighing in on what is in store for 2012. When it comes to the U.S. budget, unemployment and the crisis in Europe - many believe 2012 will bring more of the same.
One of the biggest problems with our economy is how we measure it. Using a metric for the size of the economy that includes government spending is just silly. You can achieve any measure of GDP growth by just increasing government spending. This doesn't mean the real economy has grown. Likewise, measuring job creation without distinction between private sector and public sector is also silly. Unfortunately, even with cooked numbers the Obama team's performance is lackluster. Here is a graph on real job creation over the same time period as the graph above. The red line is gross job losses, the blue line is gross job gains. Notice the differences. For only a very brief period did job creation outpace job destruction.
Let's not forget the work of the obstructionists (the right winger hacks). Actually, the current field of right wing hacks is of little consequence or danger to Obama. He could be a whole lot worse and still win easily against when America has to choose between him and ANY of the GOP's band of retards.
You forget that Obama promised unemployment below 8% if he got the stimulus passed. This shows that he has no clue about economics therefore we need someone else in there who does know.
And George Bush promised us a "humble foreign policy - no nation building". IMO, that confirms he has no clue about anything and CERTAINLY not how to run endless wars. A candidate can truthfully promise all the things he will try to accomplish if he is elected. Once he's in there and finds that the situations he was making promises about are 100 times worse than anybody knew and has the opposition party trying to prevent progress because they think if they can hold everything back for 4 years, it'll help to put them back in power, he simply does what he can. This mess the Republicans put us in will never be resolved as long as they continue undermining everything that needs to be done to get us out. They're in the Congress to work for the best welfare of the people - not their own personal enrichment.
Obama is gonna get nailed for this statement the same way Bush did with the "Read my lips" statement. After the Supreme Court declares his healthcare bill unconstitutional he will have absolutely nothing to run on. He's lost already.
In your republican wet dreams....perhaps. I have an empty milk jug that could run against your band of whackos and win. Everybody needs a dream though I suppose. Geez...Hitler could be elected before the GOP's gasbags could (no pun intended there...seriously)..
And it will TEND to... until we adopt the reasonable notion or value (as a nation) that working people surely deserve to make a living wage.
