This article mentions (some) contents of our Second Bill of Rights proposals and explains why we held it in Philly. (A form of protest against our lack of input vis-a-vis the planning of the Democratic National Convention, despite the fact that unions are key, perhaps even the main, donors to Obama and the Democrats.) This article fills in some more details, including our larger-than-expected turnout (an estimated 35,000, whereas 20,000 were expected), some of Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Schultz's remarks, and the crowd reaction to the announcement that Mitt Romney had selected Paul Ryan (author and ongoing proponent of the infamous austerity budget that would, among other things, focus 62% of its cuts on programs designed to benefit the poor, ask the wealthy to sacrifice absolutely nothing to balance the budget conversely, and partially privatize both Medicare and Social Security) as his vice presidential nominee.
When your ideas are on the fringe of society, and far beyond the bounds of common sense, don't expect to be welcomed, even by the drooling retards of todays Democrap party. Your ideas are incompatible with liberty, which is perfect for the loony bin of Vermont.
35,000 attendees do not a "fringe" constitute or represent. Neither does the AFL-CIO constitute a "fringe" organization.
The thugs at the AFL-CIO "claim" the mob's size at 35,000. Read the OP. The real figure is undoubtedly less. Big Labor is an enemy of the people and they are Obama's lap dog.
Quite the opposite, unions have been a vessel for freedom for quite some time now. Otherwise, we end up with wage slaves and child labor like back in the 1800s/early 1900s. Do you like vacation pay, sick leave, over-time and work holidays? Would you prefer to work for company script in horrifying work conditions with your 12 year old son laboring beside you? Notice the kid with the pipe? I'm sure he was what corporations considered a performance-based "incentive" program.
The plight of the middle-class is tied to unions. Most of us don't like the idea of working for $5.00 a day with no benefits which seems to be the rabid right-wing's wetdream.
We have a thread here on PF ballyhooing that maybe 500 people showing up fo Romney/Ryan in Florida was a sign of "Major Excitement" over the new ticket! Republicans are SOOOOO pathetically desperate!
If libs expect government to provide them with full employment and a living wage why do they support politicians like Obama who wants to flood the country with Mexican refugees who will work for practically nothing? The far lefties make so sense.
Actually the fate of the middle class is tied to jobs that have moved to China and Mexico thanks in large part to Bill Clinton.
