Overpopulation plus.....

What a desolate universe you live in. You really can't address anything. Just endless displays of some imagined superiority.

 

Are you sure? Why didn't the pressures of a rising population do this when there were only 2 billion people around? And if capitalism is wasteful, may I ask, compared to WHAT? And wasteful of what? Certainly economic optimization is what capitalism is all about, and if more of something is used to create higher levels of economic value that is waste, but also a success, if the metric is economic value. What is a resource based economy, you mean like the one the US already has, as one of, if not THE, largest energy producer on the planet? You think we don't already have a foundation of high technology? Really? And these things have happened BECAUSE of the monetary system, certainly it doesn't appear to be GOING anywhere anytime soon.

Of course there are finite resources contained on or in the earth. Or even the solar system. Fortunately for you, and me, and everyone in the human race, there are BUNCHES of them resources, and even with that fact, we are still currently transitioning to doing things in better ways. Good for us! Go humans!

As far as collapse..well...neo-malthusians have been clamoring for collapse shortly after three folks got together and formed a tribe. And yet...here we all still are....
