    Apparently, yes.

I'll admit, I'm both surprised and pleased. I stopped supporting OWS shortly after they started, and to me they are much like the Tea Party, in that they've accomplished nothing for their stated goals (which, also like the TP, are entirely unspecific).

But this here? This is good old fashioned human decency, and that makes me proud of the buggers.

I share your appreciation of what OWS is doing to help the victims of Sandy.

But I think your comparison between the tea party and OWS is flawed.

They may both be grass root movements with poorly defined goals.

    BUT

The tea party is focus on blaming the government for everything they don't like, and many are stupid enough to blame the government even for what they DO like (i.e., "keep the Government out of my Medicare!"). They are mainly a bunch of angry, racist, elderly, bitter and destructive people being manipulated by a few puppet masters.

While OWS is a group of generally younger, educated, and fair minded people with a social conscience who are blaming the real source of America's decline: the Elites on Wall Street who did not hesitate to bring this country to its knees in the name of "run away and unchecked Capitalism.

I didn't want to derail this thread, but really am interested in carrying on this discussion, so I made a new thread.

OWS and Tea Party are the same. They started out as a legit movement, but were taken over by morons who have no idea what they are talking about. The tea party were taken over by the idiots waving Obama/Hitler signs and screaming about how government should be taken out of medicare (A government program), and OWS was taken over by idiots who scream about how all rich people are evil. The core beliefs of the groups, which were good at the beginning, have been lost.

Well kudos to OWS for doing something constructive for a change. They should be applauded for their efforts in this case.

However, your article did not provide any objective metrics leading one to the conclusion that they were "outperforming the Red Cross".

If you're talking about one neighborhood, in one city, I'm sure there are lots of groups "outperforming the Red Cross" in that regard.

The Tea Party is a political ideology not a disaster relief response team.

But since the Tea Party is not a specific political party and are a representation of people from all walks of life with a common belief I'm sure you can find many Tea Party members who are part of FEMA, Red Cross, volunteers, government emergency aid workers and so on.

So I'm sure they are more than pulling their weight.
