Java was one of the first popular language running on a "virtual" machine making porting to different system trivial. In theory you had to write your code to run on the JVM and said JVM would take care of commincating with the real hardware. Like C# and VB.net does with the .Net CLR.

I said one of the first popular language, because years prior UCSD Pascal did the same thing on mainframe and early personal computers.

Gosh. Would you think that this was cool if someone were to do this to Twitter, or FB? Cause I can think of several places where BLM or ANTIFA or for that matter, just every day democratic leadership have exposure here. Are you up for taking a look at that as well? Or are you just here clapping that evil folks who don't agree with you will be sent to the gulags?

I don't recall saying this was "cool." Also, all the "hacker" did was scrape available data, which is also done to Twitter and FB regularly. The difference is that Twitter and FB actually secure the stuff that's supposed to be private, while Parler doesn't/didn't. And I will applaud any time someone goes to jail who commits serious crimes, like participating in a riot where multiple people died. The fact that the people who did it this time happened to use a sloppily-made site to plan and brag about their misdeeds, which will make it easier to find and prosecute them, is just icing on the cake.

I hadn't even thought of that, but there almost certainly were minimal bot detection and prevention features on the site. It was probably a haven for foreign influences to rile people up.

    THIS thread is about Parler.

If you want to discuss FB or Twitter, feel free to start a separate thread.

As to the OP, I am glad that the person referenced in the OP documented (and saved) all of this Treasonous Material.

Parler clearly poses a big threat to the establishment and their attempt to control the narrative... they are going to extremes to cancel it.

I joined Parler aaaages ago, dumped Twitter aaaages ago too

You should go there then...oh wait, they're incompetent righties unable or unwilling to curb the inbred trash posting incitement to commit violence and they got shut down.

    That’s ironic.

I gave some though to setting up a Parler account just to see what was being said. But when I got to the part where I had to hand over my email address, I came to my senses.

After all, it’s pretty safe to assume that a site that willfully traffics in fraud and political extremism is about as trustworthy as a Russian porn site!

And how would them knowing your email could potentially harm you? You make it sound like an email address should be kept as confidential as a social security number.

Added: I have a Parler account. Main stream media makes it sound like Parler was some kind of an underground network where terrorists are gathering out in the open.
In order to be exposed to some extremist posts, one must be in a group. In order to be in a group, one must ask for a permission to join that group, or be invited by existing members. Those who were members of these groups probably have backup locations for online gatherings - like Internet forums, chat rooms, even forums on the dark web. Killing Parler does nothing but kill competition to Twitter and Facebook, irritates conservatives, and fuels conspiracy theories.

This is a good thing, it should rightly get those who have advocated imminent lawless action arrested, and exonerate the remainder.
