February 21, 2012 Ron Paul attracts defense biz support despite budget cut views He's probably not the favorite candidate of Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman execs, among others, but GOP/libertarian Ron Paul's presidential campaign has gained a significant amount of financial support from defense industry employees, according to a report in Defense News. The magazine analyzed Federal Election Commission (FEC) contribution records and found that among Republican presidential candidates Paul had received both the most contributions and the most cash from employees of the world’s top 100 defense companies. Those contributions totaled $177,413.39 in 2011, with 824 individual contributions for an average of $215.31. Paul has openly criticized much of U.S. defense policy and called for drawing down forces and cutting budgets. If they can "buy him", they will "own him". That is exactly how it works. So this may not be the best thing for him. Now, if he has all this moola, why haven't I seen any Paul ads where I live in Virginia, or gotten a flyer, or one of those obnoxious phone calls asking for support? The most I hear about Paul is in this forum and occasionally on a radio talk show with the announcer laughing.
Paul has constantly turned down lobbyist. No ones worried about him being bought like Romney, Newt, Santorum, ect. When you dont sellout and say what people what to hear, you cant bankroll robo callers and silly flyers.
