Pelosi sat on the paperwork in order to pad in an extra $6 Billion over the amount requested by Sec. Azar. They spent an entire week, starting Feb. 24th, grilling him in various House committees about asking for $2.8 Billion and telling him that he needed to spend more money...instead of just approving the money he requested quickly. The country would have been better off, if this is such an urgent emergency, letting the man work on the virus instead of spending an entire week asking for money.

So, that was one week in February for Democrats to run ads for Super Tuesday blaming Trump for "lack of response". Then they took a few extra days to pad in the extra pork fat. The only extra money above the $2.8 Billion which will be spent on the coronavirus for Americans is money to subsidize the cost of vaccines (which are already free on peoples' health insurance policies). Money got appropriated as foreign aid to fight disease in other countries, and funds got rolled in to subsidize poor peoples' energy bills.

Marking up the bill to add all the goodies and bonuses that Democrats wanted to spend gave them several more days to run advertising that Trump was not responding to the crisis.

So...about a week and a half to get through the Democrats' House. We sure couldn't ask them to pass funding on a Friday, February 28, after a week of hearings, or work on the weekend. That would be too much to ask of the party who keeps screaming "Urgency!", then dragging their heals when it's their turn to take action.

Waiting on Pelosi since Friday, February 28th.

The advertising opportunity was "nice timing" to coincide with the entire week leading up to Super Tuesday, while grilling our health agency director over money, wasn't it?

The shame is that Republicans rolled over again to the Democrats' demands to spend more than 3 times the money than was requested, and mostly on earmarks which won't help Americans fight the virus. And it's new debt.

The only Senator who tried to stand up was Rand Paul. He was aggrieved at the extra money which won't be spend here at home specifically on coronavirus, but also that we're spending new debt instead of taking unappropriated money from "money pots" which have been sitting around the budget for causes which are no longer necessary. We could have spent $8.3 Billion, even with approving a bunch of Democrats' pork fat impulse shopping for other items without spending one penny in new debt.

RINO's can be as bad as Dems in spending money frivolously, except Dems are the spenders and Republicans let them spend with "yes" votes so that Republicans don't "look bad" to their constituents. Imagine the advertising if Republicans had voted "no" to amend the bill to spend more responsibly. It would have made the bogus Democrats' ads look true.

Nope, sorry. The GOP is in thrall to such a compulsive liar, and lying so much on his behalf, that it's going to take more than one of them saying so for me to believe something. Let's see some receipts.

....and, of course, Rand Paul is getting the crud beat out of him today for voting against irresponsible spending. Republicans are cowards because of public blowback when the public doesn't have any idea how much money is sitting around and being wasted in D.C. Then, of course, they also blame Republicans for "also" running up deficits.

Sen. Paul's amendment to pay for what we needed, plus pay for the Democrats' add-ons:

Dr. Paul’s amendment would rescind unobligated FY 2020 balances for the East-West Center, which was highlighted in the Citizens Against Government Waste’s 2019 Congressional Pig Book on wasteful spending. Previously, even the Obama administration proposed significantly reducing the Center’s funding.

It would also rescind unobligated FY 2020 balances for the Inter-American Foundation (IAF), a past topic of Dr. Paul’s Waste Reports. The IAF is largely duplicative of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and has used American taxpayer dollars on projects such as teaching circus arts in Argentina, helping deported illegal immigrants start a business (and without being able to rule out that the money would not go to criminal deportees), jumpstarting the Haitian film industry, and promoting a Haitian dance troupe. In addition, the IAF has not been reauthorized since 1984.

    There are NO "receipts".

McCarthy is just making up stories (that have Less Credibility than a Bat Boy sighting) and the RW is buying it hook, line, and sinker.

Dems! :eyepopping: Perspective on reality is so one sided. They just don't realize their kind are 1,000 times worse than the current President at his worst moment in office.

Other than sheriffs who see aliens Roswell, how's that pee tape going? And is Schiff's evidence still in plain sight?

    Not sure, Steve N.

The last that I heard the people at Breitbart were still looking for "Bucket 5" .

But, back to McCarthy. He is pretty funny.

    Making up stories like that.

    Shorter version:

House Democrats took an entire week "talking about" Azar's request for $2.8 Billion. That was the week before Super Tuesday.

In a functional world, if this is the plague-like crisis Dems suggest, Azar could have spent one hour in Appropriations Committee and one hour in Health Committee presenting his budget and showing where the $2.8 Billion would be spent. In a real emergency, the House could have written a short bill to approve the money and attached Azar's budget breakdown....and told him to come back if he found he needed more to control the virus as much as humanly possible.

They could have had the bill passed and through the Senate as early as February 25th, not March 4th....the day after Super Tuesday.

Congress is dysfunctional. Party over people.

Pelosi wants bodies and caskets piled high in every street corner.

    Anything to “get” Trump.

The only people still talking about any "pee tape" are you, Hannity, and other conservatives. It's super weird.

What's super weird is that libs citied the pee tape for 3 years and now it's super weird. By any chance can you explain why you think no one is still talking about the pee tape other than me, Hannity and other conservatives?

Because you all are obsessed with it? I honestly don't know, and don't remember it being a thing for libs for more than about 6 months. Now the only time I ever hear about it is from conservatives.

Do you not see people ON THIS BOARD still referring to Trump's golden showers? To quote Schiff, they're in plain sight, except I'm not lying about it.

The Dems play politics with everything. They’d hold up an appointment for city dog catcher if it gave them some political advantage.
