Because it combines History & Culture

Here is a valuable primer for anyone who is too foreign to have been here at the time and those who were too young at the time to really get a sense of how America felt on 9/11/01.

The first video is of the Howard Stern (terrestrial) Radio Show starting a few minutes before the first plane hit. They are talking about Pamela Anderson when Howard announced the plane flew into the WTC tower.

    Then all hell broke loose.

The second video is the Howard Stern Show broadcast the next day, 9/12/01 (listen after the 34:00 mark to hear a caller refer to the Muslims as "Sand Ni----s.")

It is a GOLDEN example of Americans being themselves.

Good and bad. Warts and all.

Howard & Robin and Co. did a better job of covering the event than Katie Couric & Matt Lauer on NBC's Today Show.

    Listen and learn.

I remember it well. I was at work with my headset on, listening to Howard's show. That was without question the best live coverage of the event as it was happening.

I have the earbuds in right now listening to the 9/11 show.

It isn't perfect by a long shot.

Accidental swearing and racial slurs. Repeating the occasional rumors which sometimes weren't true. Howard war mongering against "5 or 6" M.E. countries. All of them asking, 'what could we have possibly done to deserve this kind of attack?' Guessing the death toll to exceed 100,000 people or close to it.

But that's part of what makes it so interesting.

And I have heard the recording before.

I get something new from it every few months or so that I replay it.
