I didn't notice it until you just pointed it out but I can definitely see it now. I knew there was a reason I stayed away from politics all these years. The only reason I'm getting involved now is that I have children and would like to ensure their futures. I worry more and more about what that will be especially when some (supposed) adults can't even speak about what is actually happening in front of them.

How do you think splitting up would work? How would it help as a nation? There will have to be some kind of overhaul somewhere as the current system clearly isn't working well. ;-0

I've heard about that. I think that was the general idea behind con artists "selling" The Golden Gate Bridge and P.T. Barnum saying "There's a sucker is born every minute.". I imagine it is tough to acknowledge that we've been duped and probably should have known better or sooner, but, that's not how life works. Sometimes there are people who are very charming and seemingly "good" people that have spent their lives perfecting that charm for the express purpose of conning others (otherwise, cons wouldn't work). It just makes no sense to keep with a bad decision just to save face. At some point, we have to cut it off and admit the mistake and move on. Anything less is dysfunctional and counterproductive and, in some cases, as we're witnessing, even deadly.

My point is that when so called representatives are not governing according to the will of the people but rather for the needs and wants of the "donor class" we are no longer a government of the people, by the people and for the people. I don't see or hear the right having issues with this and in fact on the contrary.

Funny guy. You're just being purposely misleading. Do you like having a non-existent political discourse that amounts to absurd lies and accomplishes nothing? Because you're sure contributing to that when you conflate reparations with actual looting, a property crime.

    1. I always wonder what people who call Trump a complete imbecile have accomplished in their life as compared to Trump.
    2. Again we see the mandatory liberal use of hyperbole -- an imbecile has a mental age of between 3 and 7. If Trump is an imbecile how did he beat Ms. Bill Clinton in the general election and beat a s-load of Republicans in the Republican primary?
    3. That being said we all F up -- and agreeing to be interviewed and apparently recorded by a [expletive] like Woodward was a pretty bad F up.
    4. Ya got em now.

I don't know the membership of PF but I can't help but wonder how many of us knew someone that died from Covid. With 200K dead as you say I would think most of us know someone who died from Covid. I know I don't. You say millions who survived. I know one person who got Covid. He was not hospitalized. I am guessing we won't hear so much about Covid after the election.

Thankfully Trump has accelerated the development of a Covid vaccine with Operation Warp Speed,

The most dynamite political Current Event of this year, and no Thread? Here you have Trump telling porkies on a grave matter affecting the lives of tens of thousands of citizens. Yet, nothing here about it? This is yet another nail in his coffin. Well down Woodward.

So you think he should have tried to cause a panic? Do you think that would have helped?

Even coming from the Cheeto, I would have been scared but confident everything was going to be handled w/ transparency and competence.

There iz nothing in Current Events because management thinks this belongs in the coronavirus forum.
Yes, the top national news event of a President covering up the severity of a pandemic supposedly belongs in some sub category.

Oh. It belongs in both sections. This is pure distilled essence of political and 100% relevant to current events. Jayzuz, surely it is relevant to Nov 3rd that Team USA be aware that Trump deliberately, consciously lied about this nasty which has cost the lives of 200,000 Americans?

No, but no other Leader lied to their citizens about this nasty and most of their Countries are doing far better than Trump's USA. His management of this has been a disaster, and it was all to do with Donald wanting to look as though he had it all under control as a nothing to worry about, but...... the consequences of his inactivity and lack of control is entirely at his feet.

Do you not remember Trump saying that there were only 15 or so cases in the USA and soon, he said, there would be none? Do you not remember him saying that you all should keep going to work as this nasty was a nothing? We now know that when he was lying through his teeth with those comments, including that it was not as bad as the usual flu, he KNEW it was deadly and in his own words now revealed, FIVE TIMES WORSE than the flu.

Come on Team USA, you deserve much better.

Are you sure that other countries are doing better? How do you know?
By the published numbers, the US has the lowest death rate of the largest countries except for Russia and if you believe their numbers, good for you.
It tells me that we either have an awesome healthcare system or our testing is more rigorous. We magnify the test results 30 times giving a positive result even when the virus is far below levels that are contagious. It's quite possible that other countries just aren't picking up the positives with the same sensitivity that we do which would inflate our positive rate but giving us a better death rate.

    Death Rate
    US: 2.99
    Australia 2.94
    Russia: 1.74
    UK 11.7
    Germany 3.68
    France 8.95
    Spain 5.45
    China 5.4
    Italy 12.6

I sometimes quote a bloke called Karnal, here. He posts on an Aussie Forum and writes terrific satirical stuff, like this:

That's true, Greggery. Mr Trump's water-drinking explanation was a good one. He went into his drinking style, the size of the glass, his experience getting ties dry-cleaned - not cheap, believe me, French silk, and they can never get the stains out, no matter what they say, you end up having to throw them away.

Then there was his ramp-walking explanation, another classic. He had them build a mock-ramp for that, remember? Mr Trump demonstrated his ramp-walking technique (I'm sure he cheated - I bet he had rubber put on his soles). The fakers would love to see him trip, no? Great ratings.

Mr Trump remembers a time when the media respected their president, now the fake news just want a gotcha moment, so sad. The crowd booed. Some people love their president, right?

The crowd cheered. They want to make America great again.

We all do, Greggery. We want to see America become strong again - no more getting ripped off by the shithole countries, it's so unfair. America gives and gives, always helping everybody out, well what about America? Shouldn't they get something too? Mr Trump wanted to build a golf course in Scotland, you wouldn't believe all the crap he had to go through. Approvals for this and that, taxes, everybody with their hands out, and all because he wanted to do something great, give something back.

Mr Trump helps people all the time. He built two Trump Towers in Turkey. Istanbul, a great city, great people. He was going to build one in Moscow too, maybe Riadh. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

If the Europeans and the shithole countries want something out of America, they're going to have to give something back, it's that simple. Want Uncle to kick out your terrorists, give up the oil. Show some respect. Mr Trump turned his back on the Kurds so he could send the troops into Saudi Arabia. Their king gave him a gold medallion. Nice son too, him and Jared get on well. What did the Kurds ever do for Mr Trump?

Look, Mr Trump would have spent a bit longer at his brother's funeral, but he had to get back to Bedminster. He's running a golf course, you know - and a country.

He doesn't have time to stand around talking about losers.

I looked up the raw numbers and did the math.
US: 6.38m cases and 191k deaths = 2.99% death rate

Do you know what it is typically called when someone purposefully withholds information that results in the death of another?
    Negligent homicide.

If malice can be proven, such as it was mainly going to impact blue states and was allowed, that charge could be increased.

On the scale of loss of human life and economic destruction caused by him “not wanting to cause a panic” and lying that it was just fine: Treason.

That’s a statistic that doesn’t have much meaning.

What does have meaning is how many people have died as a proportion of the population. That shows how the virus has affected the country. It reflects how good (or bad) the country was at stopping the spread of the virus and at treating it.

By that measure, America is 11th worst in the world.

Yep. I saw some discussions yesterday referring to studies suggesting that of the lockdown steps had been taken two weeks earlier, over 100,000 fewer lives would have been lost.

Trump has blood on his hands.
