most people who have to deal with criminals do support the right. and most cops understand that one day they will retire and they don't want to have to be disarmed by gun bans

Peace officers are also familiar with firearms. This familiarity causes one to NOT be afraid of firearms as it is not a mystery. There are many people who have never handler or used firearms, this can lead a person to believe a gun unto itself is scary.
From a purely logical point of view, taking note of such things as finite resources, it would make sense for police officers to support firearm rights rather than restrictions, as they are tasked with devoting what few resources they have to insuring these restrictions are actually enforced. They do not have the time, financing, equipment resources, and manpower to actually do such. All on top of the fact that they must acknowledge that they will most likely be shot for attempting such. Police officers supporting greater restrictions on firearms is the equivalent of committing suicide.

As the last policeman I talked with on this issue, he believed that the more armed "good guys" the better. Then we talked about my pistol, and he recommended some self defense rounds for it.
He had recommended a particular brand/type of hollow point, that is no longer being made. I believe it was Black Talon.
Haven't talked to a cop yet that was against civilian carry. One did complain that our carry license should have a picture though as he thought ours were too easy to copy.
