    Interesting...

Poll: 39 percent back secession, strongest among Democrats, blacks

According to the Zogby Analytics survey, 39 percent of the country support states breaking away from the national government and country.

And on the eve of Sunday’s dueling racially-charged protests at the gate of the White House, those most supportive of secession are Democrats and blacks, according to the survey analysis.

“Overall support for secession remains only 12 points from a majority,” said the poll.

I've not noticed any particular increase in support for secession from Blacks, but white liberals have certainly whined about it since the last presidential election, particularly in relation to California.

These are the poll questions. How would you answer?

Which of the following is closer to your view?

Statement A: If a majority of residents within a given state prefer to have the final say over their destiny without the control of Washington D.C., then let them have it – it is their right.

Statement B: If residents within a given state were to take such a drastic measure and secede from the United States, the Federal Government would be justified sending in the military to prevent secession from taking place.

And? A week after Obama was reelected, 64,000 Texans signed a petition to secede from the union ... hardly just a left wing or black American thingy ...
But it's not worth killing thousands, or millions of residents to hold onto a state that really, really wants to go. Hard to see more than 10- 15% actually voting that way.

The poll shows that support for secession among Blacks and Democrats has increased. Don't you find that a little odd? I find that a little odd.

No. The same happened among white Texans when Obama was President. People also answer polls differently than they would actually vote on this subject.

So why would Democrats and Blacks want to secede more now?

Disagreement with the guy in power - just like Republican Texans wanted to secede while Obama was President. Ain't rocket science, dude.

In spite of being a supporter of freedom of choice -- along with living with the consequences -- I reluctantly decided on Statement B for the simple reason that otherwise the 620,000 military and civilians who died during the Civil War (on either side) gave up their lives for absolutely nothing. Whether or not a state can secede was decided over 150 years ago even if it wasn't codified by law.

Don't worry, I'll give you yet another chance to tell me about Republicans wanting to secede under Obama, although I've brought polling data and you failed to. I'm sure there is some out there.

Just Google "Republicans want to secede poll" and there are plenty of stories and numbers that come up from 2008 - 2016.
Hell, 3 of every 5 TRUMP Texans polled declared they would want to secede if HILLARY WAS ELECTED.
IPSOS/Reuters poll from 2014, shows 53% of Tea Party voters favored secession.
For News Poll in 2014 showed that 21% of Republicans favored secession compared to 13% Democrats.

    The list is endless.

You are so full of information about something that's not part of this thread! So instead of Democrats and Blacks wanting to secede, the real story is that the extinct Tea Party wants to secede? Fascinating!

Not just Tea Party. 21% of Republicans wanted to secede after Obama won.
Just pointing out that your "odd" comment was just a bit of human reaction - and that's it's not contained to one side or the other. I know that interferes with the bombastic bs rhetoric you
wanted to float with this thread - but it is what it is.

OK my point is made. I wanted to see how many times in a thread about Democrats and Blacks approval of secession increasing you would mention GOP/Texans/Tea Party approving of secession. So far 5 times on one page. And I imagine I could have gotten you to double that number of posts easy repeating the same thing.

Thanks for playing along. I admit I thought you would have caught on a lot earlier but hey...

Well, the good thing that has come out of it is these days the Left is more in support of the principle of federalism and state's rights.
(Although that likely may not last long)

It will only last as long as they are out of power.
