    I haven't a clue how to do.

I know how to post pics I find on the web, but there seems to be another procedure to pull them off the "Lumix" program that came with the camera.

Can anyone enlighten this fumbling computer neophyte?

    TIA.

Well... I am going to assume you have the panasonic camera... probably a tz series, probably a tz1 (will say on the bottom of the camera).

If you have an SD card reader on your computer, you can just pull the images off the little SD disk. You just take the card out of the camera (bottom in battery compartment), put it in the little slot on your PC (only goes one way). Typically a little box will open up saying it has found stuff and ask you what you want to do with it. Choose "open with windows explorer", then navigate to the DCIM folder, there will be subfolders on the disk (depending on size of the SD card and number of pics you have taken), typically pana101 or something similar. Inside there are just raw .jpg files. You can drag and drop them, direct upload them to the site... but what I do is upload pics to http://tinypic.com, resize them using their tool, and once uploaded, it will give you a "direct layout" address you can just use PFs image tag to embed.

If that little box doesn't pop open, just go to my computer, and click the removable drives until one of them opens and you see the DCIM folder.

If you do not have an SD card reader, you should probably get one at some point. Much easier than hassling with various camera systems proprietary software. It's all junk... and some of it is disturbing. Anyway, lets assume you live in an igloo and can't get to wal-mart any time soon. Those images reside SOMEWHERE on your hard drive. I have never used the proprietary software, so I don't know where it dumps them.

Alternatively, when the USB cable is attached, you can just minimize the lumix software, and go to my computer and browse the camera like it was a hard drive.

Of course neither of these things matter if you are looking for images no longer on the camera, but on your PC.

What I would do, if I were you, is open the lumix crap, rename an image something specific, like findmenow.jpg... then, presuming you are on windows, go to start/search, on 2k/xp choose "all files" or whatever the verbiage is (I have been on linux for so long I can't honestly remember atm) and type in findmenow.jpg. Make sure you are searching "all local drives" or whatever under the location dropdown.

Once it returns a result (may take a while), right click the result and choose "open containing folder". All of your images should be there. Note the location.

Let me know if that works for you or you need anything else. Let me know the operating system specifically if you require further assistance.

Again... I haven't been using windows at all for a few years, so the verbiage may be a tad off... use common sense and select the closest relevant meaning if exactly what I said isn't there.

Thanks for the time and effort to help me through this, Ctrl....I'll put a test pic in this thread when I get a little time to experiment.

are you talking about how to upload the pictures to the net or how to upload the pics from your camera to the computer?

if it's the first one, I have talked many people thru the procedure, let me know if I can help..

Ctrl has made me aware that I have to first get my pics from the Lumix program onto the net before I can copy/paste their "properties"...I've tried putting them into a labled file elsewhere on the computer with no success.

Next thing I was going to attempt, as Ctrl suggested, was uploading them to a picture management site like tinypic.com, and go from there.

If you have a simple short cut, I'm all ears.

    Thanks, web

no, Ctrl is right, you have to upload them to a hosting site (I use Photobucket) sounds like she has it under control!
