I think the GOP would rather someone from the other party be elected than to lose control of their own party.

Most of the GOP Meetings I've been to while volunteering for Ron Paul were very accepting of his supporters. At one they were really stoked that young people were coming to meetings. It isn't really the average GOP voter that fears Paul, but the party elites. That is the same with the DNC and Kucinich, most democrats love him, those that are bought off by the corporations hate him.

Actually there are plenty of Republicans that do not want to vote for Paul simply because of his stance on drugs and the military. Huge things that mainstream Republicans disagree with him on.

There are certainly some that may not vote for him because of that, but when it comes down to it, I think most will to beat Obama. I've talked to a few that expressed that concern, but most Republicans I've met were like, "But, you never know." It isn't as black and white as it seems (or as the media wants you to believe).

I disagree with those things as well but he is right on with everything else. He is reasonable and would listen to the generals and his advisors I am certain. He is very wise about things like this. Why do members of the military support him and his views if he is wrong ?

The problem for President Obama is that he hasn't supported the majority who voted for him but flirted with the crazy Republican minority who want to destroy everything. Despite the President's mistake, I think those phoneys the nutters support are all far too mad/crooked to be elected: Paul has a mix of honest libertarianism and abstract nineteenth century madness. I can't see how he could win, but if he did the rich and the military would see him off very soon, surely? It is what they do.
