The Christian Institute in the United Kingdom revealed this week it will take legal action if lawmakers go ahead with a strategy to ban "conversation therapy" that would impact churches' missions, ministries, and even praying to God.

Jason Coppel, QC, wrote in a detailed legal opinion for the faith organization that activists who are proposing new definitions in law to address their fears of "conversion therapy" would criminalize the ordinary work of churches.

Activists claim so-called "conversion therapy" is an orchestrated strategy to persuade homosexual individuals to leave that lifestyle choice and become straight. But often it's counseling that is in response to an individual's own desire to rid themselves of unwanted same-sex attractions.

TRENDING: 'I will not be intimidated into hiding my faith': Christian official faces jail for believing God

Coppel warned that prayer, evangelism, church membership, baptism and communion could all breach a broad conversion-therapy law

secular progressives will not be happy until they succeed in outlawing every expression of Christian belief. Believers will not be intimidated. The things happening to believers in Australia, Canada, England can and will happen here if blue city mayors, blue state governors, and the Biden regime get their way.

If your religion revolves around what amounts to torturing others then it should be banned.

That it is something that was not even mentioned in the Bible is even more ironic. Shouldn’t y’all be trying to convert women to being silent in church or banning divorce?

Also, why post an image of a US congressional building for something going on in the UK (and Canada)? Got to outrage the base I guess...

You DO realize the United Kingdom isn't the United States, right?

The extent some secularists are going to to make criminals out of Christians for simply living up to their religious beliefs or even express them is shocking. We must rally to prevent the secularists from making laws in congress or through the courts that criminalize us for our beliefs.

Yes I do. I also realize that secularists here will do to us here what they do there to us if we don’t resist it now.

Yep, and being a proponent of the religion of love and peace, maybe he can bring his arsenal of guns with him. You gotta make an impression, right?

I just laugh how trying to ban this "therapy" would lead to "Praying to God being made a crime".

    That's a stretch even Gumby wouldn't attempt....

The ridiculous headlines these people post.......

The right to religion does not equal the right to engage in quackery. Selling religion or snake oil as a cure for anything is a crime. This article is misleading.

Tell you what - why not come over on an “outreach mission here first instead of sitting in America scaring yourself that it might happen there? I mean by your own admission it is not happening there yet. You could come here and practice your resistance here. We Aussies just LOVE people trying to force bullshit on others

I would like to see some actual evidence this will make it illegal to pray. WND saying so is not really good enough for anyone with a brain.

It is all about keeping the fear alive......

But that has always been the platform of the GOP - fearmongering “they will take your guns away” They will make pregnant women want to abort”” And “they will turn us all gay like they did the frogs”

God guns and abortion Same old same old

No. I’m going to expose it and resist it here.

“The legal requirement, he said, is that the government treat those beliefs with "neutrality and impartiality."

The Christian Institute’s Deputy Director for Public Affairs Simon Calvert, said: "A ban on spiritual guidance and prayer would be tyrannical and unworkable. Do they expect police, prosecutors and courts to decide which kinds of prayer are criminal and which are not?"

He said, "Most people would be horrified by the prospect of someone being convicted for praying 'the wrong kind of prayer.' We must not allow activists to exploit legitimate concerns as a cover for pursuing anti-religious agendas."”
