Prediction - President Trumps 3PM 01/19 speech

President Trump will make another offer for the Democrats to end the shutdown! He might or might not add some sweetener such a Dreamers program.

Along with that offer he will add the caveat that on day 30 he will submit a RIF (Reduction in Force) for most if not all of the "furloughed" government employees so that they can get some degree of fiscal relief by collecting unemployment until other opportunities present themselves.

This will either place a big dent in the deep state forces and reduce government spending by more than 30 billion dollars.

He will retain the option to declare a national; emergency and build the wall.

What do you think?

 

No one is going to buy the BLOTUS declaring a self inflicted state of emergency.

All he has to to is sign the bill funding the government and this all goes away in a heartbeat.

His drama queen antics are harming We the People so he needs to just do the job he wanted so badly instead of doing the job so badly that nobody wants him.

 

The WH was looking at determining essential personnel to reopen government according to the NYT. I have a thread on this here days ago forecasting a RIF. Tuesday is the 31st day as a RIF cannot be done until 30 days (22 work days) have passed.

You miss the point of the OP:
You say "All he has to to is sign the bill funding the government and this all goes away in a heartbeat." while you avoid the fact that such a move would piss of a very strong and supportive base and destroy the GOP - maybe because you think such a thing would be good.

With two years to go before the next election cycle, and with the Congressional GOP out of the line of fire, the focus is on President Trump and the House Democrats. If there is a layoff, it would be on Nancy and crew as the bad guys as President Trump would state he is doing the "furloughed" government employees a good deed as he is laying off a half million employees so they collect unemployment, and have money in hand to avoid foreclosures and evictions and get some food on the table.

Consider all of the compromises that aren't occurring such as infrastructure maintenance and modernization and all of the other projects that have been gathering dust because the Democrats would rather see Americans die than compromise with President Trump on anything.

I hope they're dumb enough to impeach him.

Everyone knows that this shutdown is 100% the fault of the BLOTUS and he even stated that he would take 100% of the blame for shutting down the government.

No amount of equivocation and dissembling is going to alter those FACTS!

 

They can't get unemployment when they are working. Even without pay.

 

The OP is suggesting that the BLOTUS will just FIRE (AKA reduction in force) all of the furloughed employees so that they can collect unemployment.

The damage that will do to the nation will be unprecedented.

Only someone as deranged as the BLOTUS would consider that to be a viable option for his own self inflicted problem with the government shutdown.

What damage can occur for RIFfing employees with do nothing jobs? Who will be more damaged , President Trump or the House Democrats who told constituents they would work with the President to get things done.

The real damage is an open southern border for which the Democrats will not compromise.

Nancy Pelosi is an old dog who is unable to learn any new tricks - a shut down, or the threat of a shut down has worked for the Democrats many times before this - so it should work again. Then again, President Trump is no cowardly Republican - he would rather fight than switch.

Sorry Trump is not the surrendering sort. He will not throw away the ace and keep the deuce. He is well aware of the fact that Dems would hold the homeland security budget hostage indefinitely in order get the border to continuously leak like a sieve.

I don't think continuing to threaten a state of emergency will play out in his favor. Democrats will take that bet. It'll go to court and and he'll probably lose, and he'll do major damage to his popularity and his party's popularity along the way. He'll probably still do it though.

Most of his speech probably won't be directly about his shutdown announcement. He likes to say he's going to announce something, then use most of his speech to talk about something else. He'll probably offer another deal to save some face while threatening a state of emergency, probably DACA for a couple hundred miles of fence.

 

As I noted, of the 800,000 "furloughed" employees, the President could keep about 200,000 first responders - the remainder would be riffed so that they could collect unemployment and have some money to pay the bills.

I see no natural disaster in the making

After 28 days, there are no problems excepting the wide open southern border and the Democrats protecting illegal aliens while ignoring working American families, including the government employees they have abandoned.

 

It is estimated about 40% of rank and file government workers are actively working against the administration. RIF will get rid of a lot of them.

 

Predictions on Trump speech?

Well, he will blatantly lie at least ten times. He can't help himself. He's a pathological liar.
