As indicated here, the Liberals were projected to win, according to polls, by +5.5 to +6.0 on the aggregate.

    Here are the preliminary results:

Margin: Liberals +7.6% (circa 2% richer than the polling aggregates predicted)

With 184 seats secured, the Liberals are 14 seats over absolute majority in the House of Commons and they have almost double the number of seats as the Conservatives, who have 99 seats. Combined with the 44 seats that the NPD (farther to the Left than the Liberals, actually) and the 1 seat from the Greens (also to the Left), then the Center, Left and Hard-Left in Canada has at least 229 of 338 seats, or 67.8% of the House of Commons. It is therefore very unlikely that the Conservatives will be able to push through any legislation that they would like, for there are simply not going to be enough of them in the HOC for the next legislative period. I personally am not sure where the Quebec Block stands on the political spectrum.

Justin Trudeau, 43, will be the next Prime Minister of Canada.

With 17,553,591 votes cast, the size of the election in all of Canada was roughly the size of the US presidential elections on the West Coast (California, Oregon, Washington State). where combined, 17,991.443 votes were cast in 2012.

Quite obviously, I created this thread to pass along the results of the election and to add some comparative thoughts. More thoughts to come, because a lot of incuments in formerly very secure Conservative electoral districts lost their seats last night, and some of them were major upsets.

Thank you immensely for this list of Canadian political parties and the number of votes that each of them got!

    Amazing!

For several months now an evil, diabolical, dastardly, despicable plan has been festering in this demented twisted brain of mine.................................… IF...… the Bloc Quebecois....... would allow a red neck from the back woods of Nova Scotia like myself.......... to join their party and initiate a campaign to become national leader of their party............. then Central - Nova could perhaps become one of the first ridings outside of Quebec to have a Bloc candidate........... I might just be willing to resign as a member of the Liberal Party and join the Bloc....... if they want me??????!

Yes......… and a few flurries of snow last week. Places with higher elevation had an inch or two but it only lasted for a couple of hours.

Thank you for reading my other thread..... you may also find this rather stimulating:

Was Moses - Moshe a brilliant economist?

Is the following statement one of the most accurate ideas regarding what we human beings are actually capable of IF..............we can actually agree on the need for a particular project?

"And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do." (Genesis 11)

    Thanks.

Whether or not Moshe was a great capitalist or anything according to our 21st century standards, I don't know, because the economies of 5,000 years ago surely were vastly different than today. But the idea of "you can do anything you have the power to imagine" is of course a very motivational idea.

Nice Nachman quote. I am more partial to Maimonides, personally. :D

    Interesting!

Yes.... I can certainly understand why you are impressed by his writings.

    Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems obvious that Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon also had out of the body or some other type of powerful spiritual experiences that remind me of what modern near death experiencers report.

It was Maimonides who espoused the 13 inalienable attributes of the most holy and put them, essentially, in to a shopping list that is called "YIGDAL", but I'm pretty sure that you already knew that. :D

And yes, his emphasis on Tzdakah (Charity) is noted throughout much of his writing.

Yes, Rambam was quite the religious mover-and-shaker of his day. I have nothing but respect for the man.
