Anyone who is informed and has been following this conflict since it ignited in Daraa knows that this is a true civil war and that Assad's Alawi mafia has had this coming for years like all the other dictators who have fallen during the course of the so-called Arab Spring.

The fact that the regional and outside powers in the region are taking sides doesn't change these facts.

Why so keen to get in a war in Syria, Bill? You Lefties sure have changed since Dubyah moved back to his ranch.

PS. Saddam ruthlessly attacked the Kurds and Shi'a in Iraq on numerous occasions. Get your facts straight...

On numerous occasions, yes. But when we invaded? Not at all.

And I have no problem with wars against dictator's attacking their own people provided we're not the only ones doing the heavy lifting. Full Nato support and minimal combat roles for NATO soldiers, let the rebels do all the work, we provide the cover fire.
