You've been reading too much Howard Zinn.

Many of the Founders and Framers were anti-slavery. For example, James Otis, Jr., the father of the Fourth Amendment, declared that blacks had the same natural rights as whites in his arguments against general writs of assistance in 1761 (Paxton's Case). Two years later he reiterated that in The Rights of the British Colonies Asserted and Proved:

“The colonists are by the law of nature freeborn, as indeed all men are, white or black."

Evidently, you won't find that in the Marxist propaganda you've been reading, much less why the American Colonists fought the British.

PS. The Brits didn't abolish the slave trade and slavery itself until decades after the American Revolution ended:

    Glad these soldiers were honored....

Obama obviously didn't do it because he is racist against black union soldiers as well as racist against whites in general...

Anytime monuments are being erected to honor the side of Americans and not traitors (Confederates) is a good day for the country....

    Thanks Trump...

To that I'll add that anything that further illuminates our History and knowledge of the battles our ancestors fought to obtain the freedom that we enjoy and in all too many cases take for granted today is most welcome and appreciated.

Im not seeing many confederate monuments being put up, I am seeing them taken down and thats a shame too-because it is STILL a part of American history.

Civil wars are a part of any nations history, and we should not forget.

Awesome. I have been to one civil war reenactment (in California), but I have toured several battle sites.
