Oh I am intimately familiar with every trumpette spin on the historic defeat for trump in 2018. The Republicans who retired were all perfectly capable of reading the polling data from their own districts to understand how poorly trump polled locally. Trump personally endorsed about 75 candidates, almost exclusively in GOP heavy districts. Of those, about 25% won. By comparison, Obama endorsed around 75 candidates, almost exclusively in highly competitive districts. Of those, about 55% won.

Rasmussen leans heavy GOP. And the average of the polls in 2018 said that Democrats would win by 7. They won by 7.5.
