I conducted a basic search of PF threads with my keys being “IPCC” and “underestimated”. The majority of threads were about the IPCC’s supposed lack of credibility. Then there were fewer about what the IPCC was saying on any given issue. But of the several dozen titles I looked at, only one was specifically about the IPCC’s understated projections. We hear a lot about how the IPCC purposefully engages in scare tactics, yet this article notes as many as eight major signs of climatic change that they underestimated.

As some members know, I’m usually more apt to engage a discussion that pertains to the means of power. This of course includes things like highly concentrated trusts, a Wall Street cabal, black accounts in Swiss banks and on & on. Conspiracies are part of it, but the one that revolves around climate science defies what is the historic norm. Which is, ultimately, conspiracies of this magnitude always serve the interests of the top. The perpetrators are the victims, the warmongers are the peaceniks, the oppressors are the liberators and so on. This one here rails against the status quo, emphasizing that we need to change how we power our 21st century world. If there were a conspiracy, what sort of shape would it take? For me, what’s far more plausible is that big oil and in fact, every interest tied to this current economic model would infiltrate the IPCC, ramp up baseless threats to the planet & humanity only to later be easily discredited.

It is well documented that Big Oil along with Big Energy has been running a disinformation campaign similar and based on the tactics used by the Tobacco industry

Big energy in America is one of the least recognised players but is still a major force

That’s right, and if I understand your parallel with the link you provided, not unlike big tobacco & the NRA, the fossil fuel industry knows that propaganda works. This, despite the overwhelming evidence to contrary. My belief is that we’re ultimately going to lose the battle of public opinion. I fear we’re beyond what’s considered disinformation or that alone. These reports below confirm that climatologists are repeatedly confronted with intimidation:
By far, most of this threatening behavior is said to be occurring here in the U.S. Further, the one discipline the hoax-clones have is TV meteorologists. This is highly concentrated corporate media and about half of the local weathermen & women say the matter is unresolved. FOX regularly declares it all a hoax. Now, that last source proves that big oil can determine who heads the IPCC. We should expect more of this.

Underpinning this is one Marc Moreno - who in my opinion should have an FBI watch on him

This is bullying pure and simple and Morano deserves to be charged with public harassment if nothing else
