In a text book definition of Narcissism at its finest a player that could be drafted by the NFL has come out of the closet.

This puts so many players in an awkward position. Its no different than a team full of women being forced to accept a man joining their team showering at the same time since this man is attracted sexually to other men.

So when the first player says he isn't comfortable sharing a locker room with a gay man the press and the far left will be all over him calling him a bigot, hater and whatever other nonsense they can think of ignoring the fact this guy has made many heterosexual men uncomfortable knowing they are sharing a changing area and shower with someone who is attractive to their sex.

As Michael Sam, a defensive lineman, began to speak, he balled up a piece of paper in his hands. “I’m gay,” he said. With that, Mr. Sam set himself on a path to become the first publicly gay player in the National Football League.

“I looked in their eyes, and they just started shaking their heads — like, finally, he came out,” Mr. Sam said Sunday in an interview with The New York Times, the first time he had spoken publicly about his sexual orientation.

His team knew about this in August and ive been hearing scouts and GM's knew it long before yesterday. He broke the news before some idiot in the media *leaked* it is all. Why shouldnt a man who is gay be open about it?

Good for him! It takes alot of courage to come out. Now the only thing that matters is can he compete at the NFL level?

Rated as a mid round pick. Considered a "tweener" but many of those find success.

agreed, it's almost like he needed some sort of "catch" to improve his NFL stock... I mean, what announcement could this guy make that could gain himself noteriety and blind support. What can he blame if he goes lower than he wants to (which earns him less money)...

    oh I know.....

Did you miss that he told his team in August? Did you miss that NFL scouts already knew? He broke the news before some slimebucket in the media could start "rumors" about him.

No team is going to pick him higher then he is rated just because he is gay dont be stupid.

Bravo to the young man for standing up for himself and having the temerity for not living in the closet.

Now, if the guy can tackle, and by all accounts he can, I would daresay that not many will care about much else.

I don't think it matters that he is gay but I do not understand why he announced it and gave up his privacy ?

but if it's a cointoss decision between this guy and another player, for a team in the 3rd round.... picking the other guy over an openly gay player will risk the team owners and franchise to be labeled as homophobic and ignorant. For example.... It's a cointoss for Houston whether they choose Manziel #1, or Bridgewater. Whichever one is picked first, the other goes to jacksonville #3. The difference in money that cointoss makes is huge when it comes to signing.

Same thing (to a lesser $$ amount) occurs in lower rounds. So if a team is looking to pick up a person in a later round in this guy's position, the difference between getting picked up low 3rd round vs high 4th round is $$.

so, just like in baseball where tie goes to the runner.... this guy, by coming out of the closet conveniently right before the draft, has in essence, declared himself the runner.

Where he sticks his dick has no bearing on his ability on the field.... but the gay agenduh looks to fix that.... Equal rights +1 = the gay agenduh

    - - - Updated - - -

to make sure any cointoss decision in the 3rd round falls his way

That or he announced it before someone could leak it. I guess you prefer to think he has an agenda. Not everything is politics you know.

and for this guy.... it doesn't hurt to try, now does it.....

So if a team is looking to pick up a person in a later round in this guy's position, the difference between getting picked up low 3rd round by one team vs high 4th round by the next team that needs your position, is $$. By declaring gay, it only serves to help the odds that a team will pick you whenever they have a close decision between you and another player at your level

He dealt with it on his terms. Instead of having to answer questions at a time not of his chosing.

Just a hypothetical here. If he had stood up and said "I'm a Christian" or "I'm a Republican", would that mean he was furthering the Christian agenda or the Republican agenda? Or is it just gay people who have super secret highly organized and incredibly efficient agendas?

because a fanfare announcement makes his name more marketable.

I'm willing to bet no gay supporter even knew who this kid was prior to this announcement (unless he was on your college team).... now, he's opening story on ESPN.

gay agenduh 101 - wait until an opportune time to come out openly (because you can only do this one time)... you know, when you are looking to get hired, prevent getting fired, need a raise, or get out of something

Not everyone. It was going to get out eventually specially with media like TMZ just itching for new stories.

So you think gay players should lie about it instead? Do you think that's a better situation? What happens if they get found out, or other players are wrongly presumed to be gay? There are clearly issues to address but I'm not sure you're actually seeking to do that.

Tebow bashing proves that making that announcement HURTS your prospects.... But yes, it would...

Why do you feel the need to come out of the closet now? If I came out of the Christian closet at a convenient time to gain support politically, that's being pious.... Like an athlete getting caught with his pants down with someone (not his wife) on the road and then claiming God worked for him in his life to allow his wife and he to move past his indescretions....
