There is a lot of confusion/misinformation in this thread concerning the difference between immunity and asymptomatic infections. We shouldn’t encourage it.

 

It's why I believe they should have been deported together rather than separately. That's how I would've done it if I had been POTUS I also would've retroactively reworked the 14th Amendment to fix de jure citizenship so that it strictly and only applies to American born babies to American parents. If it can't be utilized by foreigners, the carrot disappears.

Not pedantic. Immune individuals and asymptomatic infections are VERY different things. I’m quite aware of the differences, unlike most posters in this thread.

 

I know you all have your agendas and facts are irrelevant. That’s fine. But to claim repeatedly that your opposition is the anti science demographic when your posts are factually incorrect isn’t particularly helpful if misinformation is really important to you.

Misinformation and disinformation presented by “experts” and those claiming the authority of science is one main reason mask usage is rejected by many today. The misinformation started in February and March and continues to this day. Frankly, I don’t understand what’s to gain by presenting misinformation to promote mask usage.

There is a lot of misinformation on what the term "immune" means. It does not mean that the pathogen cannot live and replicate within the "immune" body. Immune just means that you have a high level of resistance to a disease and in many ways being "immune" is very similar to being asymptomatic.

The biggest danger of this misinformation is that many think that being "immune" means that they cannot infect others

There's nothing, period. Its brand new uncharted territory. We have only a micro-sampling of data (mostly coming from the labs operated by the people selling the vaccines) encompassing any number of critical factors including communicability, and its only for the variation indexes that existed at the time the vaccine was created; ie new strains are even more of an unknown. You need to keep your mask on after you're vaccinated until we know more.

Plus there's the psychological aspect to this. It has been an absolutely national embarrassment that we have to fight this hard to get people to wear masks. We Americans are showing ourselves to be disgusting, ignorant, belligerent, selfish butthurt little infantile assclown babies over these masks. That's the new American brand and we broadcast it daily, coast to freakin' coast. Its hard enough to convince anti-maskers to wear one without as-of-yet unsubstantiated believe that vaccination mean you cant spread the virus - not to mention that if we go down this route then the 'I have a medical condition' liars will undoubtedly transform into the 'I've been vaccinated' liars.

We used to think we were divided on race, or income, or education, or politics - no. America is divided in one way and one way only: people who wear masks, and DUMBASSES that wont. Masks are the ultimate test of intelligence, of compassion, of service to community and humanity, and for once we have a crystal clear way of seeing into someone's inner-self and segregating the population accordingly.

 

There are many mechanisms behind the phenomenon of asymptomatic carriers. In typhoid fever specifically, which you referenced by alluding to Typhoid Mary being “immune”, it involves the bacteria’s ability to survive and replicate in macrophages.

I remember you had a similar breakdown when I pointed out we were overusing ventilators early in the pandemic. More than anything I’m saddened a claimed healthcare professional is offended by calls for accuracy and honesty. As always in these cases I will continue to point out error on your part....

The Science and the Math don't support your position. If you have a 99.96% chance of surviving and if you get the vaccine and at that point you get an additional 90% effective rate, you are safer than being killed by bees or driving to the store and have no reason for ridiculous masks or social distancing.
