Uh oh cons, Looks like the American people value freedom unlike republicans! A clear majority support gay marriage and also support federal mandates requiring gay marriage. Looks like its going to happen weather the right wing bigots want it or not! Its good to see America moving towards to left at a rapid pace.

A person either supports equal rights for all or he doesn't. There's no middle ground.

The bottom line is democrats support equal rights and republicans do not. Democrats are the true party of liberty.

Yet, strangely, it's always the Republicans who shout the loudest about 'freedom'. What's that saying-'an empty vessel makes the most noise...'

The reason conservatives are freaking out about gays is because they know they have lost the battle so they are throwing a temper tantrum. They are on the losing side of most social issues and are having a hard time dealing with the reality that most people under the age of 35 don't want to dictate how adults conduct their personal lives.

They are having a harder and harder time using the government to force their bigoted believes on the rest of society.

53% in favor? That's nothing. Over here, close to 70% are in favor of SSM and our government ignores us. Gay marriage is coming whether people like it or not.

The problem is that when SSM becomes legal and accepted (tolerated) here such couples will face overt bigotry and discrimination when they try to travel aboard. People in other countries might engage in violence against them.

American blacks couldn't visit Mexico until the mid-1930s. Of course they couldn't travel too freely here in America either until much later. So SSM couples could face similar discrimination.

Too bad that Gay marriage is a State's Rights issue and Obama has even said as such.

Which means just because some Liberal States enact it doesn't mean Conservatives ones have to, or even recognize those marriages from other States.. as the DOMA law outlines.

So I fail to see how you are winning anything at all. Your national Poll that shows 53% support is meaningless becuase the feelings of the majority of America have absolutely nothing to do at all with the feelings of the majority in say Tennesee.

Sorry but you aren't going to see Federal troops march into Alabama and force them to accept gay marriage.

Until the supreme court forced your beloved bigoted southern states to allow it.

That would depend on how the courts eventually rule on it.

Brown vs. the Board of Education allowed for federal involvement in integration, and if the Supreme Court made a similar ruling in favor of gay marriage, then federal intervention would come next.

I don't see the relevance. Sadly, this kind of thing is an issue anyway and the US (or US States) recognising them as legally married isn't going to make any difference.

It's also worth noting that there are a fair few countries where homosexuals are probably less likely to be discriminated against or physically attacked than in the USA.

Not buying this poll at all. The people have made their REAL feelings quite clear every time this subject makes a ballot. ZSupport is so high...except when it's time to cast the only opinion that matters, at the ballot boxes.

That's because old people vote religiously, young people do not.

The poll is a trustworthy source of American public opinion, which is not necessarily voters' public opinion. Voters skew older and more conservative than the public as a whole.

Anyway, polls and votes are irrelevant. Civil rights are not up for a vote. I don't care what the South thinks. Eventually, they'll be told gays are people, just like they had to be told blacks are people, and they'll take it.

I think all the numbers are wrong. How many states did Gay Marriage just lose in?

(Note: I am alright with Gay Marriage, but would prefer to get government out of it.)

...if you need to force it then it's not really accepted now, is it?...I have said this too many times to count, if the majority WAS FOR same-sex marriage then it would have already been voted into law...but it hasn't so it's not as accepted as you think...my golden rule is this, it doesn't matter what I tell you openly in public if I do the complete opposite in a voting booth in private...wake up and smell the coffee!!!!!...

It doesn't matter if 100% is against it. Rights are not to be voted on ever. Gay marriage is coming and you will like it.

Racial segregation is still not accepted in parts of the south. If the it was put to a vote in the south Jim Crow laws would still be in effect.

We have a constitution in this country...wake up and smell the coffee!!!!!

Well, in the end we'll have to just wait and see.

It could be that young people will come out for this...or maybe they wont. The talk of the future is very speculative.

A society has a right to decide exactly what it's going to be. What we can see right now, is that America says no, resoundingly everytime they see it on the ballot.

And yes, everything is up to a vote. The very "civil rights" you mention werent passed down from a magic mountain. People got together and decided what works for our society, the same society that is now saying Gay marriage doesnt work for us.

If homosexuality is so widely supported by the american public then why do you need to have mandated anti-bullying laws?

There are no rights afforded to you that you do not already have. Same with all of us.

You've got exactly the same ones I have. If you want to list out exactly where you and I have different rulesets in the Constitution...then Im all ears.

"up to" are the keywords in what you quoted me on. Refer to their amazing possibilities, lest you mistake them with actually having happened.
