QANTAS has just announced that due to radical union demands they are grounding ALL flights until further notice. Good on them i say, the unions in aust are a joke and have way too much power. We need the CEO of qantas to really give it to em .

Bold move. I hate unions/ALP. People will be upset at QANTAS for wrecking travel plans but quite honestly the union strikes over the last month+ have been having the same effect for many already.

Unions are why you get paid more than $2hr and are allowed to go to the toilet during your shift. There was a time when you would get fired for going to the toilet during a 14 hour shift.

I bet that anyone who already booked a flight on Qantas won't be getting a refund? Qantas' main concern should be its customers whom they are leaving high and dry.

They're legally required to give refunds if they don't deliever what you paid for.

Nope i have always neg my own pay with my boss and if it aint good enough i walk.
Unions have too much power in aust and need their collective heads pulled in.

they are doing their best to refund anyone that doesnt want to or cannot rebook. QANTAS's main concern is quite rightly the future viability of itself as a company

Then they will likely use every trick in the book to get out of issuing any refunds at all.

QANTAS said unions were striking so much that they couldnt ensure safety anymore and since it was costing them so much money and the union demands were so unreasonable, that they HAD to ground all aircraft immediatly. Suck eggs unions, hope they all get fired.

    YEP..

If your boss doesnt want to pay you the amount you are worth their are plenty that will, all you have to do is talk to them. They are not going to pay unrealistic wages for nothing though and that has to be kept in mind.

It's like talking to a wall.

They can't pay you less than what is legal. They can't provide illegal working conditions.

No because YOU are incapable of looking past yourself and your preconceived ideas on how the world runs to see how it REALLY RUNS. Unions in AUST are nothing more than kindergardens for future labor party members. They do more harm than good to the way business runs here.

Unions are the reason why you are treated fairly. They are there to ensure you get a fair go.

they are there to ensure THEY get money..simple as that. If you think i am wrong try this, get a single person in a small business to join a union and see how hard that union would fight for that one guy.....not very. Unions are a business that is all.

Unions are there to defend you when you need it. Would like to talk to your boss about a pay rise and have him turn you down, or would you prefer the union to go into bat for you, and get you what you deserve?

When I first started working, my mum told me that if there was a union, I should join immediately. They'll go in to bat for me. Unfortunately, work doesn't have a union, but it should.

I do a better job of talking about my work and what i should get for that work than a paid union latte drinking fool waiting for his chance to get into the labor party....
