If the endeavor is to save people from dying, why then not focus on the leading causes of preventable deaths? Why concentrate on less than 1/4 of the deaths actually caused by guns like homicides as opposed to suicides?

Handguns account for the most gun deaths including suicides. Once you can get past banning one classification of gun, the rest will be easy especially the one that is tied to the most deaths.
