Educate yourself, learn to recognize reality. The chart clearly shows that most people other than evangelical protestants are not opposed to abortion as it is done and regulated in the US today.
You can turn and twist that all you want with your silly or ignorant comments but reality remains. Abortion in the first trimester IS legal and MOST people do NOT want to change that.

ANOTHER DODGE of a direct question.

There is no question, the original post's assertion is a lie.

And another 39% believe it should be legal in MOST cases, what is the remaining percentage? And how many of those believe it should be legal in SOME cases? Do you think you're fooling anybody with your twisting? You should change your name from "Whaler" to "Twister".

    ANOTHER direct question dodge.

Will you at least admit the obvious, that this chart shows that abortion is not purely a religious issue?

I just love how the lefties here call telling the truth "twisting"

Perhaps instead of Granny we should call you "foot shooter" since you post things that are contradictory in and of themselves.

Finally...finally, Whaler got SOMETHING right. It's insignificant but it's happened. His statement: "abortion is not purely a religious issue" is absolutely correct. But while it's not PURELY a religious issue, religious does have an effect and a significant one, that is shown by the chart.

FINALLY you have become enlightened at least in some small measure. Of course I am right, but your initial assertion in this thread has been shown to be a conmplete falsehood. In case you don't remember, "ONLY Evangelical Protestants oppose legal abortion."

Perhaps you should sterr away from the extreme exaggerations and hysteria for a bit.

This statement contradicts your false claim in your OP. Are you admitting that the only sentence in your OP is wrong, which would mean this entire thread is pointless since the OP is wrong according to the author of the OP?

I bet that most of those from the religious right would not oppose abortions so strongly if the procedure was only allowed for non-whites.

lies are all they have, Whaler.

they were hoping no one would call them on it. They aren't used to it....when they talk amongst themselves, no one asks for accuracy.

    ok, look at the legend...
dark blue shows those that say abortion should be legal in all cases..
LIGHT blue denotes people that say that abortion should be legal in MOST cases...
pink denotes people that think abortion should be illegal in most cases...
red means people that think abotion should be illegal in all cases..

the ONLY ones that say they support abortion on demand is the dark blue groups...in the unaffiliated line, that is just 30% of the people...the REST of the people support some restrictions (of whatever strength) on abortion.

so 70% do not believe in abortion on demand.

    it's simple really..

aw, the "Animal Farm" brand of democracy...all animals are equal, just some are more equal than others....

and I suppose you think you should be in charge of who gets to take part in our little democracy huh? How would you determine that? would you maybe mark the people you don't like? maybe with a yellow star or a pink triangle? you know so people will know they are subpar people that aren't fit to take part in your society?

if you had the courage of your convictions you wouldn't be afraid of those few 'zealots'....if you truly supported democracy, and felt your side had the majority then what is the fear about?

yes, I would agree...now if you picked one group of the ones listed and blamed them for all legal abortions, I would protest.

Granny took a shot at evangelicals...an unwarranted one.

and the sad thing is, when I saw the title I thought there would be an interesting discussion but no, it's the same ol thing.

sometimes it is fun to argue back and forth but sometimes it would be nice to have a nonconfrontational discussion.

I only resent the atitude I have seen from some that view mothers with contempt. It doesnt' seem to be enough for them that abortion is legal, it's going to stay legal...no, they have to mock and sneer at women that choose to be mothers.

Whaler is not the only one here that nitpics semantics, BC; just because you haven't seen (or say you haven't) the other side doing it, doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Certain people on the other side are quite adept at derailing threads over silly things like the definition of 'being'..

Now you are just making things up. Pro-choicers don't care what decision a woman makes as long as she gets to make it herself.

Exactly. How many pro-choicers do you see outside of hospitals protesting pregnancy and telling women they should terminate their pregnancies rather than keep them?
