What evidence are you referring to?

So you don't know. Was Jonah swallowed by a whale? Did Moses get the 10 Commandments from his god? Did god create everything in 6 days then was so tired he rested on the 7th day? Adam and Eve were the first humans and had 2 sons, one of which married some woman (from where did she come from???). Those are some of the fairy tales they tried to indoctrinate me with when I was a child and I had no reason to question any of this. What "real events" are these based on?

Good points. Did Jesus walk on water? He did according to two disciples... who bolted on him when the authorities arrived to arrest him...

Are stars the size of fig leaves... Revelation says yes....

But the human story, the battles etc.

Pay attention to what everyone saw... That is what they could not lie about.

Take the battle with the Amalek. Everyone saw it. What happened? The Levites and just the Levites fought and wiped the Amalek. "Levite Moses" did not fight with them, he ran away and hid on a hill...

The real, first Moses was a Midian, not a Levite....

and the atheist approach is to throw it all out rather than the correct assessment of they dont know so they can neither believe nor disbelieve.

They have faith in their disbelief under the pretense of logic and reason.

None of the marbles I have ever seen, held or examined made me "know that God is real" (your words). Accordingly, you cannot claim truth concerning your one marble claim. You merely demonstrate personal belief, which is why I suggested you learn to speak for yourself, and not for others.

The 10 commandments thing is hilarious.

The reason all are free is overwhelmingly because the Levites are awesome warriors. They take Moses up the mount and off him. Joshua selects a new "Moses the mascot" who needs to grow a beard, requiring 40 days. Now, to give those at the base some religion...

Stolen from the Egyptians were the finest stone cutting tools around. But cutting out letters on stone tablets is trouble. 20 tries, all the rocks cracked. ****. Just go down the mount, and before anyone has a close look, smash 'em...

If God was really there, would not the 10 commandments be perfectly engraved in giant diamond slabs?

    Gosh that part is LAME....

The fact that we exist is a clue - I drink therefore "I AM"

that matter and energy got together in some configuration that gained knowledge of itself - is evidence that other beings could also attain such awareness.

Humans have the ability to - through force of will - manifest thought into physical reality .. Within their own body.

A God would also have such ability - but able to manifest the will outside its body. (not this is my definition of a God) - to be able to manipulate matter/energy through force of will.

What proof do you have that Jesus walked on water? The gospels are anonymous hearsay stories. They were not written by eyewitnesses.

why do you look to a book designed to keep the masses under control for proof of god? Just read some books about science. That’s what reinforces my faith that there is a god. Take a walk in the woods and really observe all of the details, all of the interacting perfectly balanced systems in play. Or better yet, do some meditation. All the answers are within you if you learn how to listen.

What are you talking about? Who saw a god create the Universe? Who saw a god create Adam? How do you know anyone "saw" some of the fairy tales in the Bible? The New Testament was allegedly written by several people and I believe the first writing was allegedly 45-75 years after the death of Jesus (if he ever existed). The Old Testament who even knows? How do you know it wasn't lies? What does it mean "they could not lie about"? Why not?

    Oh good grief...

How many saw Jesus walk on water = 2

How many saw the battle with the Amalek = all the Exodus people

They could hence not lie and say

And Moses raised his staff, and phaser fire emitted from the staff and zapped all the Amalek....

But they can lie about walking on water... Because only two liars who were part of the fraud were "there."

I never said I believe in God. In fact, I am more drawn to Taoist philosophy. The important thing is to live the life you have.

    Right you don't know.

How do you know? Right, the same way you know some god created the Universe in 6 days.

The atheist approach is to not believe it anymore than they believe other wild unsupported claims, such as other religions and folk stories.

Did Icarus really fly on wings of wax?

Did the eagle really get it's wings as the Mohawk say?

Is there really a part of the moon that is made of cheese and a man in the moon who makes this cheese?

When you go out in nature, you see many systems in balance and it can fill you with awe. But that doesn't mean there is a God of any sort. We can study these systems with science and see how they operate and we can learn how they most likely came to be. And none of that has required divine intervention so far.

In fact, the more we study and the more we learn, the less territory God-thinking has to occupy. God is attributed to whatever remains unknown, and that is constantly shrinking.

Meditation is a very useful tool for changing your states if mind, and finding inner calm. It can be extremely therapeutic and I encourage everyone to try it. Same goes for Yoga. Same for simple breathing exercises.

But beware the woo people try to attach to these practices.

    Here is a clue.

Do I believe Jesus walked on water?

    No

How anyone could read my posts and conclude otherwise is beyond rational interpretation of English....

My apologies if I misinterpreted your posts. They sounded a lot like you believe these fairy tales have a legitimate basis.

... because you don't fully understand what a religion is (or how logic works).

"Atheists" (being defined here as 'Church of No God' adherents) absolutely DO believe that god(s) do(es) not exist. That specific belief is the very basis of their whole religion.

    Such as?

Hence their pivotal belief that god(s) do(es) not exist.

... but that's not what's being discussed here. Atheism (defined as 'Church of No God' adherents) is what is being discussed here. Theism (defined as 'God' adherents) is also being discussed here. So is agnosticism (people who leave it at 'idk')
